I'd like to hear some thoughts on these 2 notebooks; especially around build quality. From what I read on this board Asus puts our great products but the A6 series is not their best chassis.

Acer, on the otherhand, has average build quality but their higher-end units (8xxx, Ferrari) seem to be much better.

    I guess the question is:
How does a low-end Asus compare to a high-end Acer?

Its like comparing a Lexus(toyota) vs a Lincoln(Ford).....Asus you get a better build, however, Acer is cheaper for the specs. Personally I would either wait or if you are budgeted then get the Acer. I dont really know how long Acer's usually last, but Asus seeminly will last 3-5yrs with ease. :decision:

the latest acer 82xx series has a carbon fiber lid.. there's a review just posted about it.. and a review of the A6 as well! the A6 doesn't sport any fancy materials like it's other Asus counterparts. Although that doesn't necessarily make it inferior either. I think one thing against the acer is the vent is on the right.. not too good if you're a right handed external mouse user.
