Im surprised that noone have mentioned anything about this upcomin modell from Asus. It look really valueable and interesting.
I have found it on 2 swedish webshops and they say that they will have them avaliable in about 2 weeks.
For 14190 SEK (about 1 800 USD, with 25% Swedish tax) you get this :
I think it look really good, except the 512 MB memory that should be upgraded fast to 1 GB i think. The CPU speed on 1.66 GHz shouldnt be that much of a problem i hope, after all, it is a Dual Core![]()
Anyone have toughts on this? Or more information (like HDD rpm).

That battery life looks kinda sad...
And although it won't make a huge difference, the included memory is only 533 and it isn't making use of the 667MHz FSB -

The A6Ja is what will be imported to the US as the Z92Ja...... technically the only napa 15.4" coming in on the custom side - which also technically replaces the Z70va and Z71v.
My issues with it:
1. Never liked the looks or build of the A series... it's just the regular mainstream value chassis that Asus makes........
2. As stated above... WXGA - hopefully we'll be able to get this in with a WSXGA+, if not, I don't care what graphics this system has, no one will buy it....... US office hasn't confirmed screen res to us as of yet.
3. The Z70va's chassis beats this hands down.... I think even the Z71v's chassis still has something up on the A6 platform.....
4. This will be THE standard issue 15.4" from at least mid February till late March. -

not that it's bad..but when you have the likes of the Z70va (M6)... -

You may find new designs come out in the summer around back to school. Hopefully they include a slim line performance mobile like the z70 or v6v. a6 is not their most notable design but will be very fairly priced and from a name and quite a few dealer you can trust.....It may be worth the wait after all.

Ditto....... Asus has said this is a big year of changes and Q2 and Q3 have to hold more than Q1.

Well there's a laptop for every market. Look at the North America's A6Vc, it's not as impressive as the Z70Va either, but for the budget price, it's a great value for many. People have their own quirks too, some don't like ATI and only like Nvidia (and vice versa). One can call them uneducated or whatever, but that's what they want. Some want only AMD and not Intel. You can show them a million benchmarks or whatever, that's just want they want. Some are short on cash and only afford the A6Vc. For people with even lower budgets, some may only want the A3 model. It may not be considered as excellent machinery to some, but it's a great value with an integrated 1.3mp camera.

I just hope that Asus's best products are available by this summer as I'm sure a lot of college students will be looking to buy (including myself).

So I guess the leftover Z70Va's will be selling like hotcakes soon, because it's going to be EOL(endofline).
Maybe I should've waited for the price drop
I got mine for a good deal though, 1960CDN after tax
Cheers,

Here's a review of the A6Ja (already!)

Thanks for the link Goren.
I gotta say, the aesthetics and the price are both major turnoffs. I guess I'm going to keep playing the waiting game. -
and yeah i agree!
the wear and tear on the lid are a turn off, as well as the travel distance to the keyboard (Z70va travel distance seems significantly shorter).
but the performance is at least nice -
Don't know what it is, but IMO the A6-series look a LOT better in real life and on these photo's:

..... I'll tell you what... I'm glad you think that, but in my opinion..... it's their most basic model and the design has been around since the P4 days.... so it's designed around a p4... it's much larger than it needs to be for a centrino system and a lot of the benefits of the newer designed chassis' are just absent... I mean they brought over simple things like the aluminum touchpad to make them mesh with their newer models........ but on the custom side, the A6ja -- which will be the Z93ja will not have that..... it'll be back to these more simple, old school designs......
-
Say what you want... it's still a lot nicer looking than some notebrick, i mean notebooks.

no no.. without a doubt.... but since we've only sold Asus for the last five years...... the A series is without a doubt the blacksheep of the family and although that still means it's better than 70-80% of what's out there...... it's on of the "worst" Asus models...
... that's hard to understand, I know.. but I say that a lot and it's in no way disrespecting the A6........ but the A6 also isn't a good example of what say.. a V6 or W2 is like either...... they are so different that you'd never guess they were made by the same company. -
I know that it's not the most beautiful notebook, but, what is already said, it does look better than many other notebooks in that category. But looks are a personally taste.
I really do understand your reaction, though, it's a fact that it's not as sleek as a V6, or a W2, but for that value.. hehe. -
it definitely looks better than this:
or these
its ugly and mini-ugly -
