hey, here's the deal: today i bought 2 x 1 gb SYCRON DDR II 667 mhz modules.my notebook had a 512 module, i put them both in, everything went smooth for errm 4 or 5 minutes then pough, my notebook shut down itself, but not the proper way, it was just like i had pulled out it`s AC cable.
so, i used memtest 86 and tested like this :
512 plus 1 gb worked fine
512 plus the other 1 gb and that came out fine aswell
i tested each one of the modules and the tests were ok
problem is that when i use both of my modules insterted (the 1 gb modules) after 5 or 10 minutes from boot it powers-off, then if i try again, the poweroff thing happnes but right exaclty after windows loggs in
i really could use some help
ps:my notebooks max ram is 2 gigs

Looks like to me you have answered your own question. Memtest is nortorious for false readings. Obviously if all your trouble started with installing new mem sticks that's where the trouble is. I've read dozens of posts where people have installed new memory & then had problems. Do you have access to any other mem sticks...maybe a friends ? Maybe you can return your memory for another brand ?

    I have a F8Sn-B1 & just installed 2 2gb sticks (G.Skill) & have a marked increase of benchmark(s) so there's no doubt memory helps.

i also used 2 1gb kingston modules and the same thing, with 1.5 gb it works fine (meaning i module of 1 gig and another of 512 ) the manufacturers specs that the maxram is two gigs but i guess it does not support that much . i think my xp/debian will just have to cope with that.
if you have any suggestions please leave a quicky.thanks
