After a long period of RMA's and calling to the service center of Asus and my reseller, they gave me an offer to return my A6Va laptop. I can choose a new laptop now for the same price of this laptop when I bought it, I also have to choice to pay extra money, if it's needed.

I looked at some laptops, and the ones that get my attention are the V6Va and the M6Va.

I really like the V6Va's looks, it's just great. I also think it will be a great improvement of my older A6Va. But I also like the M6Va, although, I think it's less attractive than the V6Va.

My question: What would you do? (I have to pay around €120 extra for the V6Va) The V6Va or the M6Va, they are both fast enough for my work. Also, I have to take it with me to school next year, so reliability and thoughness are a bit important.

    Sorry for my bad English...

Well. It's fine. But I don't want a A6 series notebook anymore after this. (I know that I have a bad unit, but still...)

I don't think you can make that statement unless you physically picked up and used all of the models.

Well... the shop offered me this:

    Asus M6Va-8004P
    Intel Pentium M 750 (Dothan 1.86Ghz; 2Mb L2 Cache; 533Mhz FSB)
    80Gb Harddisk 7200RPM
    1024Mb DDRII 533Mhz SDRAM (2 x 512)
    8 x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer
ATI Mobility Radeon X700 128Mb VGA
    15.1" SXGA+ CrystalShine TFT (1400 x 1050)
    Interne W-LAN 54Mbps/ Bluetooth
    Windows XP Prof NL/UK/FR
2 jaar pick up & return garantie
Gratis Draagtas, Optical Mouse & Asus Ai Flash 256MB

I think that's a great deal, in trade for my A6Va, only less memory but I don't need that anymore (don't play much games anymore). Also I like the resolution much more than 1280x800 widescreen.

The M6va is the same as the Z70va here, though that particular model has SXGA screen instead of WSXGA. But nonetheless, the M6 has always been a solid machine!

    Ok, I like that.
It looks like this one btw, pretty much the same as the Z70va (except for the screen offcourse).

Oooooh sweet the M6Va with the glossy screen and nice screen bezel. I say go for it, or if that M6Va is not a widescreen then might as well go for the V6Va since it has a nicer chassis, if it's not that much more money.

    Oooooo nice.

As for you Learning Asus, be gone, be gone I say~!!!!

The M6Va is a great machine. I'm sure you'll love it way more than the A6...

I think i will go with the M6Va. That's because it already has 1GB of memory and a 7200RPM 80GB disk. When i will go for the V6Va, I have to pay 120 Euros extra, have 'only' 512MB and a 5400RPM 80GB disk.

Is the V6va really better? Or is it only better when it comes to looks.

I think you made the right decision by chosing the M6va, as the specs are much better for a relatively lower price.

However, bear in mind that the 7200 RPM harddisks might cause a continuously running fan (from what I've read in the near past).

Hopefully other people can confirm whether this is true or not.

EDIT: where did you buy it?

Hmm, are the fans really noisy? In my A6Va the fan was also constantly running, but it was at a low rpm rate.
