    Yes the fan can be loud at times, but nothing too overwhelming, although I've heard laptops that don't make a peep.

    Battery works fine.

    here are a few problems that i find annoying on this model.

    -Soundcard problems. The soundcard is crap. Recording and good sound fidelity are not an option on this laptop. There is no firmware at all.

    -The DVD/CD drive sucks. Has a hard time even reading some cds. DVDs play choppy. It is erratic and does whatever it feels. Also NO FIRMWARE.

    minor nuisances are:

    -Volume control. Function key+F8.....gimme a break!There should have been an easier and handier way to control the volume.

    -I still have no idea what the little email LED is for...

    -The CD player controller is pretty much useless. They should have had it control your music folder, so you could play your tunes while the pc is off.

    These are not major impairments to enjoying this pc but they should be addressed becasue they can be highly annoying.

    That e-mail led is for use with ASUS' chkmail program. It can flash blue when you have new e-mail. :)

    May i ask which DVD drive you have in your A6Vc? The drive in my A6Va should be the same, but mines doesnt have a problem at all.

    Hmm, the older A6Va's have a TSSTCorp too, but my A6Va does contain a Mat****a UJ-840D.

    ...so battery and sound work fine then. Great. (;

    My main concerns with this notebook was that BlueTooth wasn't offered with it and the screen resolution could have been a little higher for my taste. Our PM compromised however and decided to only focus on a few hi-end specs, while making sure the MSRP wasn't $1500+ and above.

    I haven't heard anything wrong with the A6Vc, such as fan noise or battery. Of course, it may not be for the "extreme gamer", but as an overall budget mainstream (with an nVidia 6200 video card & built in 1.3mp camera, 100gb HD), it'll serve its purpose well. :D
