    Hi

I have searched high and low, but alas, no resolution.

Basically I can't get my mic to work on my laptop, either an external mic or the internal mic.

    The mic just won't recognise.

On my sound settings for some reason I have "SoundMax HD Audio 0" and "SoundMax HD Audio 1". The 0 is showing for playback settings and the 1 is showing for recording settings.

Anyone else had a similar problem.

    Thanks!!

I had the same problem with my laptop.

do you have the realtek HD audio manager either installed or it came pre-loaded on your machine?

If its installed go into it and change the input volume of the mic there, and if its not installed but it came on the driver CD then install it and do that. Even though it wasn't installed on mine I had to do that in order to get my mic working.

    Cheers

Thing is it used to work fine. However I did a recent re-install of my system and now mic doesn't work. I'll dig out the driver CD and try that.

Thats what caused it not to work for me. I did a clean install of Vista and then my mic didn't work anymore.

    Hi

Seems I could not find any Realtek drivers on the disc, just SoundMax ones. Anyway did install on SoundMax again, turned up volume in Audio settings in control panel, but no luck.

I did download some Realtek drivers, but I'm still getting the "SoundMax HD Audio 0" and "SoundMax HD Audio 1" and still no mic working.

Time to take it into Asus?

You can download the driver from the Asus website if it's not there on the driver CD.

    Hi

Cheers, been on the Asus website, but could not find Realtek drivers. Found Audio drivers, but they were for SoundMax. Have downloaded them and still no resolution.
