Hey guys...my Asus A8JM (~2 years old) won't turn on unless the power adapter is plugged in. How much would it cost to get a replacement battery and where can I get it from?

Also, the hinge on the screen is starting to fall apart. I bought it from either Portable1 or MilestonePC. How much would it cost to get that repaired?

Is it still under warranty? You can pop into an Asus Repair Center and they will fix that hinge issue. The cracking hinge is a known defect and they don't need any explanation about it. Even if you aren't covered under warranty you MIGHT be able to get it fixed for free (YMMV). As a bonus, they usually replace the entire plastic chassis of the laptop so it seems brand new for a week or two (they did that for me when I went in twice).

They have a quick turn around too (~1 day). They have a center in Richmond Hill if you are in the GTA.

As for the battery, Canada Computers sells ASUS laptops now and they are expanding all over Ontario so they could place an order for you. I am fairly certain MilestonePC went under so no luck with them.

EDIT: heres the CC link http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=020299&cid=896.276.923

Seems pricey and the picture is off, but it might be it. I suggest going in store to purchase if you decide with CC.

Milestone PC has closed its doors over a year ago. Your best bet is to contact Asus and send it to them for repairs. If your laptop is out of warranty, you'll most likely have to pay for parts and labor, but that's the best place for you to get your hinge fixed. As for the battery, you can buy them directly from the Asus estore. I would call Asus and ask them if they can give you an estimate for the repairs.
