Is there no way to enable AHCI on these laptops? I've tried all available bios, and calling Asus (who keep telling me that they will escalate it but I never hear back from them).

Has anyone had any luck enabling AHCI? My particular laptop is an A8JS. Thanks.

What happens to your laptop when you've enabled AHCI in the bios? Are you getting any BSODs?

Actually the AHCI option isn't even there. I assume it should be under advanced somewhere but it seems to be missing from my BIOS.

It sounds like a bios issue. You could try updating your bios if there's a newer version available, but from the looks of this thread, it seems you may have to make do with what you have now.

Ha, that's my thread actually. I found a german thread with the same problem here. Hm. Let me know if you have any ideas. It's quite annoying, makes me lose some respect for Asus since this option *should* be there and it really seems like a random and unnecessary bug.

    *Bump*

Nobody else with this laptop is missing the AHCI setting?

I also have an A8JS and I have a Scorpio Black in it. I don't have this option anywhere as far as I can see. The laptop is almost 3 years old now.
I read on Asus forums of similar issues with same generation laptops like the G1.

Scorpio Blue here *high five*. I love it, so much better than the old Seagate.

Damn, so maybe the notebook just doesn't support it? Odd though considering that the chipset does. Aw well. Hey any idea what kind of resale value this laptop has? I've upgraded the ram to 4GB as well (although it only recognizes 3, even with a 64bit OS, grrr).
