Has Asus released any significant upgrade to the A8JS? I'm looking for a relatively light (<6lbs) gaming laptop. Also <$1500, and with financing (pay by the month) available if possible. I'm also in Canada. What would you recommend?

The best 14" "gaming" laptop from Asus is the N81Vp series. It's just a tad over your CAD$1500 budget but unfortunately, that's all Asus has to offer in the 14" category.

I'm not familiar with Canadian Asus resellers, but I've heard good comments from NCIX.com. Keep in mind that many Asus resellers in the US such as GenTechPC also ships to Canada, but you may have to pay extra for duty/customs fees.

Yeah I've had good luck with NCIX as well. Is there any 15" models that would be better than the N81Vp? I actually prefer the bigger screen as long as the laptop is 5-6lbs (maybe a bit over 6, but 7 is definitely pushing it).

The only gaming option for a 15" Asus is the G51 series. But that may put you over your budget (unless you can find a friend in the US to purchase the Best Buy version) and will be over your weight limit.
