    Hi,

I was a happy owner of A8JS until few days ago, I leave my laptop turned on and when I returned, the screen was filled with lot of green vertical bars.
    Then windows crashed.
Since then, i´m able to reboot, but screen keeps doing that.
Tryed to output to a monitor, and same happened.
So... I guess that´s the video card causing that...

So.. it there a way I could replece it ?
Do I have to get a GeForceGo 7700 or could be another card ?

    Thanks !!!

If you want different video card the reversed MXM card from Asus might work, but you gotta find someone who can modify the system BIOS for you but no guarantee it's gonna work.

    So better stick with 7700M.

ya he sent me a message about it.

the 9650 runs cooler and faster than the 7700. the cost of this card though might approach the cost of a newer machine.

im glad you still have an a8js mine was junked long ago

Hey !!! thanks so much for the replys.

I´ll try to find the 9650. But it seems it´s pretty difficult down here (Argentina).

Maybe I´ll find some on ebay that is willing to do Int. shipping.

    Thanks again !!!

Seems like even on ebay is hard to find that card.
I only found one and it was almost 300u$s
Didn´t think it would that much expensive.

It´s even hard to find the same GF Go 7700.

you should be able to find a used or refurbed asus g50 with a 9800 gts for 300$

Overall I feel if its in the 200$ range for repair crap can it.

    I just bought a nearly new g72 for $400.

In general upgrading the gpu never makes sense.

If you yourself find a broken asus only laptop that has a 9650 gpu and you can sell all the other parts to make it free that makes sense to me.

Yeah, I wont spend 300u$s on a video card.
Altough, I wont be able to find some laptop for 400u$s here... Guess I´ll have to save some more money a get a new one.
