HE asks us to post a better deal. Well, the S96J is a better deal.

    15.4" - 6.5 lbs, still maintaining portable
X1600, 2gigs of ram 667mhz, 2.0ghz core duo processor and 100gig hardrive. (1300-1350$ depending on retailer)

    versus his
    x1600, 1gig of ram 533mhz, 1.66ghz core duo processor and 80gig harddrive.
    he paid 1400$.

Well I guess you could argue that there are no better deal for a 14.1'' laptop. The portability can play a big deal.

Does anyone know if the A8ja can be purchased in the United States? I only know that the A8jm is PortableOne MX in the states, but I've yet to find any reseller for the a8ja, which imo is better price and better graphics card :-/

because i want a x1600 14.1'' laptop. and right now my only choice seem to be w3j and it is quite expensive >.<

Where are you getting that deal for $1300? (Maybe that's a 5400 rpm hard drive and without windows?)

Thanks for comparing apples with oranges.

For a start I could argue that to the best of my knowledge, the S96J built-ons aren't available in Australia. I could then argue, that the price in USD is at best an estimate based on the AUD price when cinnamonsigh purchased his notebook. More often than not, we pay more than they do in the US, after taking the exchange rate into account.

Also, being an Ensemble unit, the A8Ja is covered by a 2 year international warranty...

If you're lucky enough to be living in a country where IT hardware is cheap and plentiful, consider yourself lucky... Other countries are paying up to double what you are, factoring in exchange rates.

The A8J comes with a 12 month international warranty, it says so on the sticker, unless the sticker is wrong on the unit we have in our store.

Yes, I agree with you about comparing apples to oranges TedJ. Comparing different sized laptops is something that's overly done and just doesn't really make sense.

The A8J has an impressive screen, but the build quality just isn't there. I still say it's a great buy for those who are good to their expensive investments. If you are gentle with your hardware I say get the A8J, it's nice, light and the price is right.

I can get a better deal, here in Asia :p But I haven't seen the A8ja here yet. The W3j has been out for a couple of months ($1290), then the A8jc ($1150), now they finally have the A8jm, but not the A8ja yet. And to let you guys know, in the US/Canada, Asus notebooks usually come with a 1 year global warranty. In Asia, in apparently in other places too, its a 2 year global warranty. The stickers say 2 years. :)

In the UK (and I think for the rest of Europe) Ensemle models come with a two year global warranty as standard.
