    Hi Everyone,
I read on a post here that the asus a8jm takes 4gb ram. So I went out and bought 2 x 2gb.
I've put it in and now it says i've got 2.8GB.
    Any advice?
    I run opensuse 10.3.
    Cheers
    Josh

There are many threads about these RAM limitations... it can be because of many things: hardware limitations, BIOS limitations, and last but NOT LEAST, 32-bit addressing limitations.

This is a chipset limitation. Only with santa rosa you are able to use 4gb of ram. With the previous platform, which is you case, the chipset only "sees" 3gb, no mater the OS you have installed (32bits or 64bits)

    Ok,
So i'm stuffed - there's 1gb sitting in my lappy that'll stay idle forever.
    Oh well.
