Asus A8Jn / A8Jp

Hello,

I plan to buy a new laptop and am considering A8Jn / A8Jp.
But somehow, I couldn't find this model with Bluetooth internal module in the - Everything is good
market (Ukraine).

My question is: is there a status led for the webcam? Status led which will be lid on when webcam is working.

For me, disadvantage of this model:
- No internal Bluetooth internal module (in current market).
- No status led for webcam (I know that this is not important for many people, but in my opinion it is important )
- A8Jn with GeForce Go 7300.
- Expensive in the market against Samsung.
Advantage:
- Everything is good.

I am considering this model against Samsung Q35 / X11.
Well, I know that Q35 is not the same level as A8Jn / A8Jp. But it costs cheaper, as well as X11.

I found disadvantage of this model:
Q35 Disadvantage:
- My wife said that 12.1 is sometimes too small.
- Maximum memory is 1.5Gb and only slot.
- No docking station, only 2 USB.
- No express card
Q35 Advantage:
- Light
- Standard battery life last very long time.
- Everything is good

X11 Disadvantage
- As I heard from some people in the internet, display quality is not good one. I also tried to compare one of X11 model in the shop, yup not very good.
- Battery not last longer, standard is 4 cells.
- No express card
X11 Advantege:
- Lighter than overall 14" (i think it's because of 4 cell battery standard)
- Everything is good .

Samsung Q35 / X11 warranty. I am not sure I could find service center in many country (I travel frequently).

Any opinion will be appreciate for choosing new laptop.

The A8jp is quite a lot more powerful with its X1700 than the A8jn's video card. You say it comes with the 7300? In Taiwan it comes with the 7400, still not a very powerful card. As for the Samsungs I know nothing about them. You might try the samsung forum also.

Well, actually I would really like to have A8Jn (GeForce 7300 in Ukraine) or A8Jp. I wish I could find model with Bluetooth internal module inside.

How about status led for webcam? Do you know?

 

There is no status LED for the webcam. That’s also very strange, because all of the A8 series here come with bluetooth. What about a Bluetooth USB dongle? There only ~$10.

Well, after all, I really like A8 series, only small disadvantage (no status led for webcam) and expensive in Ukraine.

But at last, I am waiting for Q35 with 512 mb internal memory. It's not easy to wait, could be 2-4 weeks in here. My consideration is that Q35 is light and for my wife.

I hope I could be patient. If not, then I will end up with A8 series and buy Bluetooth dongle.
