I recently sent in my A8Js for an RMA and they replaced the motherboard, and it came back with an older BIOS version. So I updated it to version 211 today.

But when I restarted I got this message from the BIOS right after the initial POST:

"A configuration change was requested to allow the creation of an operator authentication value that permits the temporary deactivation of and clear this computer's TPM (Trusted Platform Module)

Press [F10] to allow the creation of an operator authentication value that permits the temporary deactivation of and clear the TPM

Press other key to reject this change request and continue"

I don't know a lot about TPM and I could not find any information at all on this specific message - no result at all on Google. I ended up pressing F10 (clear the TPM).

Has anybody seen this message before? What does it mean, and why did I get it upon re-flashing the BIOS? Does Windows Vista or any other program even use TPM? And does it matter whether I had it clear the TPM or not?

    Any advice appreciated - thanks!
