Hi,
So i took the bottom cover off of my a8js to clean out the dust from the fan and vents when i saw my video card and got curious as to how it looked like on the other side. So smart me took the video card out after overcoming some resistance from what i later discovered was from prying apart heat conductive material on my gpu. the stuff on the 2 sides (gpu and heat sink) were like puzzle pieces made for each other so i just put my video card back in and pressed firmly down in hopes to reattach the stuff. also, there were these other 2 blue pads that looked like padding foam with gauze in them, i slightly ripped one with the largest part being on stuck on my heat sink and a very small bit stuck on my gpu (so i saw the gauze inside).
So.... Should i be worried? would i need to buy myself a tube of arctic silver and reapply?
And also i'm wondering about the temperature guage that my nvidia driver displays, where is the thermometer for that data? Can i use it as an accurate reference to how hot my gpu is getting even if it is not getting efficiently cooled?
Thanks,
Wai Jun

I've never took the video card from my a8js, and I'm no expert on this, but the padding seemd be thermal past (or thermal pads depending on what they've used). This allows for the heat to conduct better from the GPU to the cooling system. If you brake this, this conduction might not be the best causing overheating problems on your card, which in turns could lead to GPU failure. The best way to solve this is to buy thermal paste (arctic silver seems to be the best) and repalce the residues you have with new paste. If you don't know how to do this (I don't, but it seems to be something easy to do) go to computer store that has support and ask them to do this. Shouldn't be expensive and would take 30m at most.
