Hey guys, got the laptop last week. Started playing BF2, looked pretty good. 20 minutes later I started to get artifacts, they got worse to the point of non-playable.
    -Reboot
    -5 min good then artifacts
    -lowered video settings to low
    -10 min good then artifacts
    -changed video drivers
    -5 min good then artifacts
    -shutdown laptop for 30 min
    -20 min good, then artifacts

Changed power mizer settings to limit the video card performance and set BF2 to low settings, now I can play fine with crappy graphics...

So what do you guys think the problem is? Anyone had similar?

    Thanks guys,

    Mike

Sounds like bad GPU to me... can you check the GPU temp and/or Core/Mem frequencies?

+1. Sounds like an overheating GPU to me. Since you've already updated your videocard drivers, I'd grab a recent BIOS update (2.11 is latest IIRC); the fan controller behaviour was modified in later releases.

    Hey thanks guys.

I'll upgrade my bios tonight, anything I should know ahead of time for that?

I'll also do Idle and BF2 checks on temp before and after the bios upgrade.

Stick two pads of post-its under the left and right of the back of your laptop to elevate it and help ventilation. I had pausing issues in games before (mine is OC'ed) but elevating the laptop eliminated problems and made it easier to type.

Changed the bios up to 2.11 and now just played for an hour with no issues. I will update how this does a week from now as well.

Thanks again for the advice guys!
