    Hi!

Does anyone knows what these all are for (can be found as downloads for my laptop)?

    Description ASUS ATKOSD2 UTILITY
    ASUS ATKOSD2 UTILITY for Vista

    Description ATKDrv UTILITY
    ATKDrv UTILITY for Vista

    Description ATK_MEDIA Utility
    ATK_MEDIA Utility for Vista

    Description ATK_Hotkey UTILITY
    ATK_Hotkey UTILITY for Vista

    Description ATK Generic Function UTILITY
ATK Generic Function UTILITY for Vista

I.e what is the difference of those and why there is just not one simple file to download to get hotkeys to work?

ASUS ATKOSD2: It changes the images you see when you use the function key shortcuts and other hotkeys. The images have a small 3D effect such as water ripples.

ATKDrv Utility: This is required because it is actually the ACPI driver. This is what tells your OS about the power state of your system and allows for power settings to be changed by the OS. It is also responsible for pulling battery information from the BIOS.

ATK_Media: When the play, pause, etc. keys are pressed, this will cause Windows Media Center to open. When the system is powered down and the power key on the front of the laptop is pressed, the system will start up and will open Windows Media Center right after you log on.

ATK_Hotkey Utility: This is required to make use of all the function key shortcuts.

ATK Generic Function Utility: This is required as it allows for communication between the ACPI and all the shortcut keys.

    U51 - :)

btw, am running N81Vp in Win7, used whatever latest drivers that they have at the Asus downloads.

    I put the system to sleep;
if I immediately wake it up, it functions properly.
if it's for an extended period of time, after it wakes up, it'll suddenly reboot.

If you guys have Win7 installed, please give it a go and see if I'm the only one experiencing this.
    Thanks.

Because I tell you. :p Joking :), I recommend installing it as AFAIK it is required for some important power management features.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but is there a way to change this so it will work with any media player, specifically winamp?

If you enable global hotkeys in Winamp, they will work with it so long as the winamp window is selected.
