Agreed. It is very much based on what the user finds as beautiful. Back in the day before Dell bought Alienware, their notebooks looked really ugly. But now with their new M17x and M15x, they aren't too bad.

And it's not going to show up in the upcoming mobile Sandy Bridge CPU's.

They're just edgy contemporary designs. -

Yeah. Part of me kind of likes the new industrial look of the M17x and M15x. It's a bit loud for my taste, but I certainly wouldn't mind the design.

You think the G51 looks nicer? Wow. -
I don't like it but obviously there's people that do. Plus no HDMI..what was AW thinking?
There has been definite improvement but I personally found Dell's M1730 to be aesthetically more pleasing than the AW. It really boils down to what people like. Some think the G51 looks great, I never liked it's looks. -

I can sense that you're going to start disliking all other notebook designs after you get your W860CU, haha.
-
Haha actually I still love the Dell Studio XPS 16 design. The W860 kinda reminds me of it so that may be why I'm liking it so much.

Whoa. I thought I was seeing doubles for a second there. You're right. They look strikingly similar.
-
I like those simple, slick straight forward designs too but I have to say, sitting in front of the g51 I wouldn't want anything else as far as the inside goes imo (subjective of course). Hoping that asus will put out a 18.4" version with the same inside but an all black lid.
Hey does the W860CU's screen have a 16:9 ratio? -
^yes, and also keep in mind the W860CU is like 2" thick. the outside is horribly plain while the inside is decent. i dont like the fingerprint reader tho, that so old gen. lol. webcam identification ftw (that how i log in everyday, i loaded like 300-400 pics of myself so it NEVER fails to recognize me).
personally, i used to hate the X1A/X2A/A1 lids till i got it, now i love it. i just came back from bestbuy after buying GTA: Episodes and saw the G60 with the blue, and i really liked it. it looks MUCH better in person that in pics.
but my ultimate setup for when i start getting an income will be a pro high-end desktop + sony vaio Z + alienware M15x. vaio z = expensive nice netbook-esque for on-the-go, desktop for highend gaming and M15x for a nice looking laptop when gaming in LAN parties, friends houses etc. while i do agree that alienware has received much hate in the past, they are a top competitor now with fairly priced notebooks (actually slightly moar expensive) with great components, great aesthetics and great quality (cept for the M15x first gen.).
edit: also what is this CPU sticker on the vent? care to inform? -
I like my lid now too after having it for a while.
I don't need total mobility so the 2" depth is alright. Even thinking of going bigger (17" - 18.4" screen) on my next laptop. I really don't know if I would get another tower. I'm so impressed by these new powerful laptop's (this is my first) that a real nice one might be enough for me. Sure I'd like to play certain games at max that are CPU/GPU monsters but these notebooks are really developing fast. Can't wait to see what this new year will bring. I just need one about ohhhh 3 times faster and I'll be good to go for ... well about a year? maybe? -

Biometrics is not old and photo ID has been around since the original PlayStation.
Why do you want a performance desktop when you are planning to invest in the fastest notebook? By the time you start making money, we're going to be out of the two year old G92 era and will be seeing notebooks equipped with the final iterations of the mobile GT200's and the newer mobile Fermi's, which is more than enough to push all of your pirated games. The M15x is already a fairly mobile notebook, so there is no reason why you should buy a dinky internet kiosk, also known as netbook. -
I lol'd!

hey these are all distant dreams, a man (teenager) is entitled to dream...
im just saying if i were making money and were 5 yrs older in present times, i would get that combo. ofc. it all depends on how much -_-
and by no means do i say G51 is portable, it is quite big. you wont be getting GTX 260M in a <15.6" chassis. maybe in the future with die shrink chips that use less power/generate less heat. i consider 1.6" the upper limit of width for me. after taht, i just dont like how thick they are, specially the clevo D900F ( 2.35"). also, its just me, but i dont like the biometric in the middle, or not on the notebook as a whole. webcams dont look out of place, but staring at that notebook, the first thing that i hate bout the touchpad. its aesthetically unpleasing to me, but its not make/break choice, biometric is still useful and it better than having no biometric/no webcam ID.
but yea i like vaio z, my dad used to have one and they were nice and light. also pretty good battery life. most if not all gaming laptops get 2/3hrs battery life with 6/9 cell, respectively.
not wanting to expand on the pirate too much, pirating is irrelevant in regards to how much monies i have/income made whether im 16 now or 40 in the future with a job and a family.. good games = buy for me -
and the best budget gaming notebook is ?
the dv6t quad for 915 after tax i got a
720qm
4gb ddr3
gt 230m ddr3
led 16 wide screen
320gb 7200
and the cpu and gpu stay under 60c with ^90% load and 3 hours of nba 2k10

the bestbuy G60VX will SMOKE he HP for 80$ more.
-
I'd rather have a G51/G60. The GPU in the dv6 isn't anything special, in fact it barely qualifies as midrange. -
-
Hey Joker, you seem to know your stuff.
I'm wondering if you have any info about compatible LCD screens for the G51J?
I'm assuming you can't put just any 15.6" in there or can you? -
