well to make things worse, i am having major crisis in the form of poor net connectivity.. got the most of the drivers except the network controller issue and the dvd drive.. if i boo up the laptop it will work for net to a limited time n aftr that it will just die... any guidence on that as i have checked with the isp people.. all the hotfixes are ok.. even the vista is unable to find any eror with the connection in the network diagnostics. it pings ok to the dns server.. wiring all ok.. beats me.....

    intel(R) 82801GB/GR (ICH7 Family) LPC Interface Controller - 27B8

Is the IR port and I have no idea where to get the drivers, all of a sudden they loaded tonight after reinstalling Vista after messing around with it for a few hours (They just said hardware installed out of the blue). I have a universal remote with PC media commands, works great now.

I still haven't got all my drivers and functions set up correctly. A few of the hot buttons don't work and I can't pop a pro duo card in the slot without getting a BSOD. I rarely use those though so it's ok... except the wireless fn+wireless combo. I could use that one.

I got most of my drivers using driveragent.

I've really never trusted Driveagent, but I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to my PC stuff.

I've just used the Asus given ones, and the MS updated ones. The only 2 I've hunted down were the Intel wireless, and the Finger print reader (although I only needed the updated application). Still waiting for a x64 vista camera driver, only 50/50 working.

You installed the utilities off the Asus disc right?

    hey guys...

sgt hollywood ... i am not able to get my dvd rom to work correctly...it wont read he disks and someday outa blue moon it will decide to read the orginal discs but still wont read the burnt discs.. its matash ita UJ850.

I installed the utilities off the asus disc and also used the drivers provided in the gentech thread 32/64 bit drivers for asus and them windows update installed a few..

I got dual boot 32 bit and 64 bit ultimate vista..

64 bit dun have the intel ich driver issue but there is the cam issue.. it wont work on the 64 bit and will get a blue screen whenever i use it .. 32 bit no dramas..

same like u.. i am also a bit of control freak when it comes to my notebook...

dun think u will get the 64 bit driver for the cam to come out sometime soon..well i have been waiting for about 8 months now...

let me know anyone can advise where to get the driver issue sorted out..

I did use the disc but some of the drivers would not run (can't remember the error). I d/led most of the asus drivers from their website. We need someone to run through each of the drivers listed there and describe exactly what they do (power4phone?).
Driveragent is great when you have 35 drivers that need updating and you don't trust M$. Or if you work on several computers a day. And usually it sends you to the manufacturer's site so you can doublecheck yourself.

I've contacted both Asus and the cam manufacturer for x64 support, nothing yet.

My drive is listed as a Uj850s dvd-ram (yeah ram).

Do you ever run into problem seeing the dvd drive in the "computer" window ("my computer")?

ya i do all the time..

then i just delete the driver for dvd ram ya i forgot to mention that part as well... then it comes back..
but it wont read any disc.. from where did u get ur c90?check with them n they will be able to replace ur dvd drive.. my case well i m in australia, just to send the dvd back to them will cost more than the new dvd drive..

did u get the interl LPC interface controller error as well in device manager??

    @Adey

I think you might be misunderstanding me here, my system is rock solid except for webcam driver. I was just trying to get more information about your issues.
    No biggie though.

Have you installed any programs like itunes, rhapsody, etc etc or any other software that has integrated ripping/burning options?

i dun have any of the softwared that u mentioned above...

was surfing through web n found that there are lot of users with same issue as mine, i believe it has to do something with Intel chipset driver.. got the latest INF utility, but no result.. strange...

Looks like your marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Ethernet is working properly on the 2nd picture, is your wireless card working at all?
