Asus C90 - Shipping time?

Primarily for the retailers here --

How long do you anticipate being able to fulfill and deliver a C90S to the Washington DC area? I live in Chennai, India, and in a week we're headed back home for three weeks of vacation (first time in two years!) If there are some reviews this week, and they turn out well, I might leave my laptop here and get the C90 shipped to me there. That way I don't have to wait for it to make it to India.

This seems to work for me, because our lifestyle makes weight count more than anything else. We move countries every 2-3 years, and only have a certain amount of weight allowance. I already have an Alienware m5700, and an older Dell Inspiron. The C90, in addition to the upgradability, would allow me to retire the last desktop -- an older Shuttle machine that the kids use. (It's the old "Let me buy you a new computer by buying me a new computer." An old parent trick.)

not a retailer here - consider this a thread bump - but IMO you should have no problem seeing your laptop on your doorstep in the next four weeks, as long as you order 3 days before you leave, you should be fine...and there is always rush/overnight shipping...

and nice move with the kids...my dad always tried to pull that one on me, but hey i had no problems with it, i was getting a kickarse comp ^_^

 

Asus keeps pushing it back, it was supposed to be last week, now speculation is for this week, and there are even rumors of mid-July. I know some resellers will be contacting Asus on Monday to get some solid answers, so we can't know until then...

 

Mid July my ass. Late July, if it ever comes anymore.

To be fair, the C90 will of course eventually ship (or MileStonePC/others will have major refunds to offer), but who knows when? To be honest, I don't believe it will ever come. This happened with the Cowon A3. We kept looking for it, and it was supposed to be pretty cool. Even showed up at CES. Well, it's pretty much dead in the PMP population's eyes. It was maybe a sort of census, to see how many people would go for the C90P or the C80. Who knows?

Uhh, I don't know about that. I know personally that if this thing isn't being shipped to me by the end of next week I'll have a MAJOR problem with it, along with a lot of other people who were told mid-June.

But I have faith in Asus...so I don't expect that to happen.

I was ready for the C90S in June and even had bought 4 GB of ram for it in anticipation of it's arrival.

LAst Sunday I caved in and bought an Acer 5920G at BestBuy which was on sale. Santa Rosa platform with a 256mb 8600MGT. Everything is upgradeable (Mem, Hard Drive, Mobile C2D and MXMII GPU). So it's not a C90S by any stretch of the imagination because I'm not running a cheap desktop C2D overclocked at 2.93ghz. The Acer has a lowly 1.5ghz Mobile C2D which I plan to upgrade to a 2.4ghz this fall when Intel reduces prices by 33% on that CPU to make way for the 2.6-2.8ghz Mobile C2Ds. The added bonus is that the Acer has a HD-DVD Rom and HDMI. Played my old fav Doom3 by the pool last night and I really love that 8600M-GT. great mobile GPU.

Good luck to all the hold outs for the C90S. I am looking forward to reading about it when it eventaully makes it's way into buyers hands

 

They ship next monday or tuesday to end users. They just left the warehouse in taiwan today.

pre-ordered mine at 12:30 this morning cant wait to get it. do i have any hope of getting it by the end of the month?

 

I may end up ordering mine from a less known/reputable seller than gentech so i don't have to wait behind all the preorders

i did read that thread the only mention was of you and the forerunner who pre-ordered about a week before me getting your notebooks by the end of the month, i was wondering about someone who pre-ordered today like myself.

 

i'll keep you guys updated on when I am getting mine. But I think Alex is going to be one of the very first to get it and he has his whole review planned out, to post the same day or next so keep a tab on him.
