Just figured Id open up a thread about the new Asus customizable laptop. I have already preordered mine from GenTech. Since April 12th I have been through 5 notebooks. I started out with a Sony Vaio AMD 700MHZ then got addicted. Im throwing all my hopes into this new type of laptop. Im sure there are a lot of you excited as well and id love to hear some chatter about your thoughts. Mine are that I will be putting in a
E6700 and 2GB of G. Skill ram to go along with the 160GB Seagate 7200RPM HDD included with my order (On Windows XP Media Center Edition). I plan on benching Battlefield 2/2142, F.E.A.R., Oblivion, Prey, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and Splinter Cell Double Agent. I also look forward to using the HDMI output and seeing (although im 99% doubtful) if the HDMI carries audio as well. Im very excited and am trying to pacify myself with this thread. Otherwise I would be firing off emails to Ken (GenTechPC) every day.
PLEASE POST ANY NEW C90/C90S NEWS HERE!
JUST FOR FUN: ANYONE that orders the C90S and can guess closest to what my 3DMark06 score will be wins $10 (via paypal)! May not seem like much but its something. You must send me a picture of your C90s with your forum name on it to qualify. I will post my 3DMark06 result box also. Guess within 90 pts of it and get $15(90 for c90)!!!
Benchmark will be performed at all stock settings with the latest Nvidia Drivers available at the time from Nvidia.com.

There are about 1000 C90 threads right now. This looks like Spam to me.
For the record, you will get about 5700 3DMarks in 06. -

It may very well carry audio thru the hdmi. Its sort of the whole point of hdmi instead of dvi is that it can carry audio aswell. otherwise its identical to dvi.
if they were smart enough to incorporate it that way tho, well... guess we will see... -
I actually agree with Alex, this looks like a spam thread.

You talk a lot of trash for a newbie. What we are adding to the thread is a commentary for the mods to deal with as they see fit. It is ironic that you criticise someone for not adding anything to the discussion when a spam thread is one that adds nothing to the boards but clutter. If you had advertised the thread as a contest run by you, that would be different; however, as a discussion thread, we already have about three long threads for that. If you would like the mods could change this thread to "C90 3DMark Contest!" or something, and then it would be alright, but simply as a discussion thread it is spam.
-
What "trash" are you referring to? I simply asked the other user if he had anything to "add". Its no need to be so hostile as this was started to create some fun around a new product. It would have been better if you had made the suggestion about the change of topic name in the first place instead of taking stabs at me for no reason. So i ask you, do you have anything to add? By the way, the other threads that mention the c90s have many other laptops in it as well. I started this one as a place for everyone to put their ideas and thoughts so it would be easier to find by doing a search for "c90" or "c90s". In that way it makes it an easier to use forum. A forum is a place to express ideas and thoughts. Your action is one of the reason why people rarely submit info on forum and read only; because they hate when people attack them just because they disagree/misunderstand what they are saying. Having said that it is a place of debate as well. If you feel like ive done something wrong say it in better manner then resorting to namecalling "newbie" and slang "trash". New users to forums are people too with opinions, knowledge, and flesh. -

I'm not going to argue with you. I am just saying that this forum has a ton of C90 discussion, so much that the mods have already discussed merging some of the threads. If the mods see fit to let it stay then they should also go ahead and delete the last ten posts as well. If I sounded like I was angry with you I'm sorry, but please understand that since you are new to the forum you probably don't know what is considered spammy around here as well as we do. If you can't accept that, then you aren't going to have a good time on any forums. That is all I have to say on the matter, feel free to flame me again, I really don't care. I have better things to do with my time.
-
I really do appreciate you being mature about what happened. Usually not the case. I hope the admins merge the c90 stuff cause its hard to find info on ANY forum thats solid or NEW. -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
Well, it has been released, the resellers have JUST recieved them, or will in the next 3-4 days, then the first end uders should have them between tuesday and wednesday, then some solid info should emerge. I will be writing a review when I recieve mine, whether or not I will be the first, I dunno, but I have already started writing it =P.
-
tuesday??
oh my...then the review would be delayed again..
hope i can see one soon.. -
jeez, you guys are a bit harsh, I think there are way more G1s threads than C90 threads...and for the most part, they are all pretty worthless (like asking info about it that is answered in EVERY other thread). at least this guy had an original spin to his thread with the contest and he wasn't really asking worthless questions...IMO you should just let the mods do their job...
-
Seriously guys, enough fighting and throwing names back and forth. There are quite a few C90 threads already I believe. But if your trying to run some sort if contest, then I guess that is ok. But, consider changing the title.
Also, please don't post links to your ebay items in the Asus forum. If you wish to sell something, do it over in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum. And be sure to read the rules sticky at the top of the forum before posting. -

Thanks Jason, would you mind changing the title of this thread to "Asus C90 3DMark Contest" or something? Of course, if OP approves?
-
ANYONE WANT TO GUESS AT THE 3DMARK06 SCORE NOW??? YOU KNOW YOU WANT MONEY! -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
Seriously, I think it will be 5700. Possibly 5768, to be exact.
-
-
Looking forwards to reviews!
Please include info about heat, noise, etc. I want to know how manageable those two criteria are. -
Alex i think 25% of C90 threads made by u !!
anyway i think the score will be around 4650
btw:alex am just kidding

You know you are probably right...
But anyhow, There are rumors of the C90 being pushed back a little bit, but Asus never lets anybody know anything solid, so if anyone gives you a date, they are probably lying/guessing. It could be as early as this week (hopefully, Ithink most likely), or as late as the middle of July (pray to your gods that it isn't =P).
Also, hamoood, the G1S gets 5100, so don't you think the C90 could do better than that? -
My guess for the C90s is 4400 at default and 4800 when overclocked.
Ofcourse if it uses 512MB at 400mhz like some of the other 8600M GT with 512MB it will be alot lower. -
-
Well my Overclocking score might be a little low.
will you benchmark without overclocking the GPU? 3dMark06 is made of 3 tests that count in the score.
SM2.0 score SM3.0 score CPU score
There should be little different in the SM2.0 and SM3.0 score compared to the G1s. The CPU score will be higher. A desktop E6700 gets about 2100-2200 points. Which is about 600 points more then the T7500. I added another 200 points more for the C90s because of the other desktop parts that might make it faster and better drivers that might be available till then. -
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
There isn't a stock CPU or GPU (well, I guess the 8600M GT is sort of stock since it is far more common than any other option.)
-
-
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
ooohhh, yea. Well, the C90 has built in overclocking. There is a button on the keyboard that ups the CPU to 2.93 Ghz and a 1302 (ish) FSB.
-
recommend to use the HDTV with 1080P resolution for best results.. you might have to set a custom resolution for your screen also.
yes HDMI carries audio and it'll output to your TV speakers. -
PLEASE someone make my day and tell me im wrong and the audio WILL work! G1S users!? -
I don't have an HDMI cable.
-
well then,i guess...4770,lucky numbers
anyway,its just guessing -
AlexOnFyre Needs to get back to work NBR Reviewer
My score was assuming the CPU and GPU were overclocked....
For stock clocks I wanna say
4122 native res and
4873 at 1024x768 -
BTW does anyone know for certain if the C90 will support DDR2-800?
-
Just saw this with an estimated ship date of July 16!!!! GASP! Does this show how late the shipments will be for other etailers!?

Hmm wow the thread got a few pages long while I was away for the weekend.
I dont mind thet topic itself, I feel alex and his point on there being a million c90 threads, however alex nobody likes a substitute moderator. Its nobodies position but theres to determin if a thread should be open or closed. If you feel it should be then the best course of action is to alert a mod of the thread that way you dont get any negative feedback from the forum.
Now as for the threads contents itself. I dont mind it but I think it would be 10x more approprate to start a c90 bench thread once we actually have some c90's in our hands and not weeks in advance
Plus there are several bench threads already, while its all well and good to have a c90 only thread with lots of nearly identical scores..., wouln't it be more fun to go decimate everybody elses scores on the already present threads??? -

No hard feelings <3 -

That argument has been over for a loooooong time Vicious.
Also, the thread wouldn't make any sense if we had C90's in our hands, reread the title and OP =P -
Nice gun, Vicious!

OT:
Okay, a Deagle maybe, but is it really gold plated? -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
no ^^ its just the best picture I could find. I dont use a deagle eather rounds cost too much and you shoot one person but kill the next 2 people behind them on accident.
Its a 9mm beretta. I still have a semi auto assult rifle too a civilian version of the M4-A1 with 5.7mm rounds

Well I always say better judged by 12 than burried by 6.
Im one of those "manly men" that dont mind settling somthing in a man to man fashion outside in a parking lot. However almost every confrontation I have been in in the last 4 or 5 years resulted in sombody pulling a gun on me.
Just because im a former marine with some bad ass martial arts skills and some tough fist doesnt mean im willing to go up against a gun with my bare hands tho.
I mean stupid stuff too, like sombody was parked at the drop off mail boxes at the post office and I was behind them for like 4 minutes. I honked my horn to let them know I was there and they didnt care, so finally I got fed up, waked out of my car put my mail in the box and knocked on the window to tell them verbally how rude it was to park at the drop off mail boxes. The guy flips out that I "hit" his window and pulls a gun on me. I think he would have shot me if I didnt have one too. -
That's pretty scary, thank goodness for laptop carrying cases.. Was it in the laptop carrying case at the time?
-
Some more info. It seems that the MXM card for 8600M GT was on sale once upon a time. $186 for it. Im guessing the 8800M would be $300.

nice business cloths with a gun. except they keep theres in plain sight with a belt holder.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
as for 8800 prices... I have no idea it may be alot more than 300$ since its the top of the card list usually there is a large premium for the top product. -
Found the page that says the C90 can support DDR2-800. But its the only site that says that....
