Hello
I've tried several things to make this game work under vista/Directx10 but with no sucess...
1st i got an error saying XINPUT1_3.dll is missing, i installed Directx Redist Audust 2007 and problem solved..
Now im stucked with the error "Invalid mode 1280x720"..And rolling back to DirectX Redist April 2007 does not help.
But i CAN change to that resolution under Display Settings as i have the latest 8600 GT drivers available with modded inf from laptopvideo2go so i don't understand why invalid mode...
I have tried also the driver 158.43 that has been suggested to solve this error but with no avail...
As anyone managed to get this game working on his Asus C90 ?
Here are my C90 Specs:
3GB Transcend RAM running on Async Dual Channel
Conroe E6600 2.4Ghz
15'4 WXGA
NVidia 8600M GT 512MB DDR2 VRAM
160GB 5400 rpm
The system is very stable and has never crashed, but im sure this is a software specific problem...
I don't know what else to try..any tips are appreciated![]()

Have you installed the DX10 version demo of the game, there's also an DX9 demo out there. I installed the DX10 version on vista and no probs

@ShogunHelios
Yes i installed LostPlanetTrialDx10Setup.exe with almost 400MB
I also have tried installing nzd_CascadesLiteSetup.exe that includes Directx10 Runtimes, but still the Invalid Mode error appears.. -
Uninstall Lost Planet
Uninstall the DX redist pack
Download the video drivers again (if you don't still have the install files), but don't install them.
Ininstall DrivercleanerPro and uninstall all video driver and DX files listed using drivercleanerpro.
Shutdown any anti-virus and firewall programs running on your system
Install your driver files, and go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com to make sure it updates your directx with the correct files.
Reboot (if you haven't already)
Install Lost Planet again
If you still get the same error messages let us know. -
Hi again...thanks for all your answers
Problem is Solved...
It appears that installing Lost Planet DX 10 on windows vista on my machine didn't create a config.ini file...
So i created one with the code below turning FULLSCREEN=OFF and put it into c:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\capcom\LOSTPL~1\ :
Code:[JOYPAD] ProductName=Generic USB Joystick A=2 B=1 X=3 Y=0 LEFT=POV RIGHT=POV UP=POV DOWN=POV START=8 BACK=11 LT=4 LB=6 RT=5 RB=7 LSTICK_PUSH=9 LSTICK_VERT=Y LSTICK_HORZ=X RSTICK_PUSH=10 RSTICK_VERT=RZ RSTICK_HORZ=Z [GAME] MouseBaseSpeed=2.000000 [GRAPHICS] FPS=ON SLI=OFF HDR=HIGH MSAA=4X EffectDetail=HIGH TextureFilter=ANISOTROPIC16X TextureDetail=HIGH ShadowQuality=HIGH ShadowResolution=HIGH ObjectDetail=HIGH MotionBlurQuality=HIGH Lighting=HIGH EffectQuality=HIGH EffectVolume=HIGH [DISPLAY] Resolution=1280x720 RefreshRate=60 FullScreen=OFF VSYNC=OFF AdjustAspect=OFF [SOUNDS] SeVoiceNum=64 ReverbQuality=HIGH CategoryEQ=ON [CPU] JobThread=2 RenderingThread=ON
Now, i have to find out why im only getting 2fps on this game...with a 8600M GT 512MB RAM ....
2fps is ridicolous... -

Lost planet is horribly horribly encoded game.

In Simple words, What is the best game ( a game that really show you the great card this is) to be played within an Asus C90 with a 8600M GT 512MB ?
Can any of you play in fullscreen? I can only play in window mode...thus the low fps -

You can download the bioshock demo. It shows off the graphics nicely. I mean gaming is gaming, everyone has their preference. If you mean a game to show off the visuals of your c90, bioshock will do it, its arguably one of the best looking games on the market.

Lost Planet Demo requieres you to manually add the missing DX files, in both 9.0 & 10, in both XP and Vista
And Lost planet runs horribly, even on a E6850 & 8800GTX SLI -

Lost planet between dx10 and dx9 looks 99.999% the same, the differences are so few that its hard to tell even in comparison screen shots with a high zoom.
However the performance hit for using dx10 instead of dx9 is nearly 50% or more. Play the dx9 version and you will be fine.
There are two common issues when it comes to performance in computer games.
1.) Console ports - games that are originally for a console then get ported over to a computer, usually the coding is very sloppy, they assume since we have a pc instead of a console that we should have to take the blow and make up with there poor coding with stronger hardware. The game is never optimized for the computer and thus why the console plays it better.
2.) DX10 games, so far even tho DX10 is supposed to demand even less resources/power than DX9, so far it hasnt, the trend is 50% or more of a performance drop using DX10 instead of DX9 in most games that offer it, for very little gain.
So as you can see Lost Planet is unfortunatly a combo of BOTH of those things in this case and why the game runs so bad. Dont let it get you down and make you think its the c90's problem because it isnt. -
You're right.
The difference in Lost Planet is that the maximum level of shadows can only be set on DX10.
I tried Lost Planet DX10 on Vista and DX9 on XP this spring and I only had 1 GB of RAM. DX10 XP was about 5 FPS slower.
WiC Demo ran better in DX10 than in DX9 for me. I'm guessingi t's all due to my horrible bottleneck (1.5GB DDR400, Sempron 3100+ & 8600GT XXX (620/800)
