I have had no problems with my Super-Multi drive until recently. When I was converting my music collection last week, some of the music CDs were very slow to spin up and be read by the computer. I just thought that they were scratched. But today I tried to burn a CD and it is not recognizing the blank media I have inserted. I have tried several different blank CDs of different brands, different media types (DVDs work and read fine), and have cleaned the drive out well. I checked online and there seems to be problems with this drive (Mata DVD RAM UJ-850S) and iTunes. I had just recently installed iTunes and thought that it could be causing the problem. so I uninstalled it and rebooted. No good. Tried deleting the optical driver and rebooting. No good. Tried editing the registry and removing the upper and lower filters as discussed in several forums and on the Microsoft site. No good.
Do I have a bad drive? Would only the CDROM go out and leave the DVD functions working? It is strange.

Ok, so now I am searching for another drive for my c90. I was looking for a Blue-ray drive but can't find any drives. I am looking for any compatible drive at this point. Anyone know where I can buy one? Preferably cheap?

I believe gentechpc sell one for around 300 dollars for the C90P. It will work with a C90S so that is your best bet.

You could try a standard notebook ODD. Have a look here for some info since the time I was looking for one:

I got a NEC in the end, it works fine but the front bezel doesn't fit. Oh well. I use the default one, doesn't look brilliant but it works.
