    Hey Guys,
I'm considering starting up a custom cooling project (big surprise hehe, works on paper so far...) and I'm just wondering if anyone has come across some 12v points on the motherboard to get power from? Possibly even a 7v. I know I can get 5v easily but 12v will be MUCH more ideal. And no, hooking up the 4 turbo engine fans to the 12v point are not part of the project ;)

I would just get a digital multi meter and go from there, start with the battery thats an optimal spot to get power if the voltage is right because you have no fear of messing up other components, then try other appealing looking areas.

Just a general note of caution.....when/if you do find a 12V connection on the board you may run the possibility of screwing up the board by overloading it. I would try to find a way to obtain power directly from the battery.

Yeah, I've thought of that. I plan to, however, I need to find a way for what I hook up to the power source to turn on with the laptop, and turn off.

Thats what switches are for. They make really small ones that will fit in a laptop.
