    Hi Guys,

Just a quick one, I still have my old but reliable C90s and I haven't seen someone changing to an SSD recently so I was wondering if i am able to change it. I want to go for the Samsung 840 pro 2.5".

I know C90S is Sata II so will the 840 be too much? Maybe a Crucial MX100 will be equally the same due to the Sata II limitation?

If it will make no difference, can I just swap it with my current WD 500GB 7.2K HDD? or do I have to buy an adapter? Any issues with the BIOS (I have the latest revision i think) or any other mods i need to bare in mind?

    Thanks for the help.

guys, it doesn't have to be a c90s, it can be any other asus or similar experience.

You can just swap it, most drives will be very similar unless you need a lot of small file speeds which are not usually at the SATA II speed cap.

Excellent, I will buy then a Sandisk Extreme II rather than a 840 pro as it will not make any difference to the speed, thanks.

It's a good drive for consistency and will be good if you move up.

Since the ports are operating at 3Gbps so supposedly if the write speed is about 300MB/s then it's considered acceptable, but most of SSD out there are already rated at higher speeds.
You still can use Samsung 840 Pro because its performance is more consistent than Sandisk Extreme II even thou both items are rated to do 500MB/s+, which will be capped at 300MB/s.
840 Pro 512GB was like $250 last week.

it was cheap last week but i hesitated to buy it until I was sure. The Extreme II was really cheap so I am not sure if it's still on sale. Thanks for the advice, I'll check a cheap 840 Pro, if not, i'll go for an extreme II.

This week is the last week to get the good price for Samsung, then they may raise the price again until Christmas promotion.
Of course, it may be cheaper at Christmas, who knows.

The sandisk can maintain a solid 10k iops where as 840pro is good it's just not quite as good as the sandisk from a consistency standpoint.
