I just purchased the C90S from Gentech out in California, and chose to do the hardware install myself, all that jazz. I am very confident nothing was damaged during installation, although it took me a run to my tower to see where the heatsinks for the GPU and CPU go (I was never very good at puzzles as a kid...)

My only qualm with this rather impressive machine, is that upon installing the drivers and utilities by myself, everything went flawlessly until the Bluetooth Driver needed to be installed. I have installed the Wireless Utility, and [Fn]+[F2] reveals that the Bluetooth module is recognized, and turned on, as well as the WiFi, but when I go to a Bluetooth app, (ie Information Exchanger), it brings up the driver installation that never completed correctly. The driver installation completes only about a third of the way, then prompts me: "Please plug in the Bluetooth device, and click the OK button."

My question now is: does this mean I need to buy a USB BT dongle? Or is there another way to install this driver? I was under the impression that the entire point of BT technology was so that it could be wireless, so this plugging-in enigma is greatly disorientating...

Make sure you have the right driver and that the BT is hooked up correctly.

I would see if there are new drivers on the Asus site. Also no you do not need a BT dongle you have built in bluetooth you just need to find out your problem and fix it. If its broken Gentech will take care of it for you but I highly doubt its broken its just a driver issue.

Also when connecting to a bluetooth device it will say something similar to that, so make sure your not getting confused.

Downloading the newest XP driver for the C90S as we speak. Also: my WiFi coverage really sucks, pretty bad. I'm sitting right next to the router and I've still got a very low signal strength. Could that be a driver issue as well? My Acer never had a problem getting WiFi coverage, and the WiFi card was even less powerful than the Intel Pro/Wireless a/b/g...

It can be a driver issue but it could be interference too. Try to move further away and BT and Wifi can conflict with each other so maybe if your BT is fubar it is messing up your Wifi.

Id check to make sure everything is connected well at the hardware level. I have some upclose pictures for the wireless and I think bluetooth card in my c90s review.

For the wireless most of us has to get the drivers from intels site as Asus had the wrong drivers on the disk and on there page.

Try rotating the router 45 degrees horizontally (around the vertical axis). Sometimes they have a "butterfly" shape of best coverage, you may be right in the dip.

Alright. My wireless coverage is not a problem now, it had to do with the antenna wires being jostled loose somehow, guessing I just didn't put enough force on them when I first snapped them in place.

As far as the Bluetooth thing, well, I'm pulling my hair out in frustration. I realized once I opened the case that I have no idea what it looks like. I checked out Vicious' review (which was rather in-depth and insightful when planning which notebook I wanted to buy), but the Bluetooth module itself was covered in an opaque pink labelling marker, heh. I am correct in assuming that the module is connected to the motherboard itself, or at least right on it, right? The small blue-ish 1x3/4" chip to the immediate northeast of the CPU (when observing the computer with the fans facing away)?

Woo! I called Gentech, and after trying to get through for a while (the phone was busy o_O), they were able to tell me that the driver on my CD was incorrect, and they posted a link from the Intel website to my email.

FFR: I dunno if this has been solved or not, but INTEL HAS THE CORRECT INTERNAL BLUETOOTH MODULE DRIVER IF THE C90S WAS ORDERED FROM GENTECH, OR IN THE EVENT THAT A C90S CUSTOMER IS GIVEN A VERSION 3.0 DRIVER AND UTILITY CD.

Thanks for your help, all. :D
