I've had a G1-c for a year and half, LOVE it. So when I needed a second laptop (running a line for audio and on for video for large seminars) I ordered a Asus C90s.

Got it yesterday, since I took it out of the box, it hibernates every 30 minutes and will not wake up.

Hibernation and stand by are turned off.

    I re-ran XP.

Did the diagnostics. Memtest, and one for hard drive. Both tested ok.

I can't think of anything else to try, please help!

    THANKS, Cinda

Do you mean that it hibernates nicely? Or just turns off?
Does it do it only when it's idle? And exactly after 30 minutes? Or does it happen randomly? Or is it triggered by something you do?

With the current info I can only assess it's a "weird issue". :) More info would help.

After 28 min exactly (timed it) screen goes black,on it's own. It would be off but indicator lights ore still on. I have to forcibly shut off then re-boot, and it starts all ever again and goes black after 28 minutes.

    not the same as hibernate.

It does not matter if I am working on it that min or not, still goes black. It is not triggered by what I am doing.

    Thanks Cinda

Firstly try to reinstall all the ATK (ACPI) drivers and utilities.

Would it matter with no drivers installed.

Yes it would, although in that case it should never turn off.

Try installing the latest versions of the ACPI (ATK) drivers off support.asus.com.
