Does anyone know if there will be any compatibility issues running a unix based operating system on the asus c90s. My main concern is that the fans are controlled by a utility that is windows based; if someone could clear up what is controlling the fans. I don't really care if the overclocking utility does not work in unix, as long as the laptop will not get fried.

to reduce potential issues, make sure to get a intel based wireless NIC, Nvidia/intel graphics. Broadcom and ATI hardware dont always play nicely together.
for more info look at the other sections within this forum, there is a whole linux section. -

A friend of mine is using Sabayon Linux with the C90s and everything works fine. He even installed some program to override the fan speed with ACPI and it works great. I don't know what it was called, though. But even without ACPI the Bios will control the fan speed. Same with battery and power management. The battery and power management is under Bios control but you still get advanced power management features from windows and even Linux.

Make sure you install with ACPI=off just incase your fans dont work. Almost fried my old computer that way.
