    Asus DVD drive keeps opening

    After recovered my laptop, the problem occurs : DVD drive keeps opening.
    My DVD drive is working but when nothing inside the drive it will keeps on opening.
    Anyway to solve it? :confused: :confused:
    My laptop model is Asus A53S Window 7

    could be eject button stuck and I heard a virus does that too.

    You could try cleaning the connectors but if you have never taken it out, make sure you replace any ASUS type controller software.

    Does it only do it within the OS? Or will it occur even if you pause the POST or load the BIOS setup and leave it there?

    BIOS setup. I believe to enter your BIOS setup on your model, hold down Del key when the system is first turned on or restarting.

    That or create a USB DOS disk and boot from that and see if it still does it.

    In my humble opinion, it's connected incorrectly or you have a virus.

    My sister's old Asus laptop does the same (she keeps it open all the time now). It kept on opening or attempting to read something regardless of it was XP or 7. I once uninstalled the DVD-ROM's drivers. It somewhat helped, but began to open again later.
    Prolly something is wrong with the connectors.

    You could try searching for updated firmware for the drive perhaps.
