Hey guys.
First post at this forum, nice place.
I bought a G2S-B1 and realized that not only does asus pre-load their laptops with a 32 bit vista, they also dont/didnt provide drivers for other OS versions. not even a SATA driver for xp. No video card driver for vista 64-bit.
Thats where my problem lies right now, I strongly am in need of a normal 64bit setup, so either vista or xp (or ability for both) but have failed to find any 8600 drivers compatible.
A driver from Nvidia website informs me that the card in requires only drivers from asus... did anyone mange to get around any of that.

did anyone else run into this issue? any takers?

You have checked the Asus site for 64bit drivers?

Have you tried LaptopVideo2Go.com yet? If not, they should have all the video drives that you want/need.

If you have more then 2gb of ram there is no way you will mount windows unless done by 1 select dealer in the nation.
with 2gb of rma the drivers are available on the base disk, and alternate sources. we use imaging soft now a days but it was not hard to find them. alot of the drivers can be gathered from other older asus models. the vga and a few more will be a problem as mentioned above -
"Geared2play.com" sorry i didnt quite get what you ment in your post.
"CalebSchmerge" The LaptopVideo2Go.com worked like a charm for a video graphic.
What i have turned to is finding drivers from manufacturers directly, and at times changing the inf file. some things however didnt work.
ie. The turbo ram doesnt work with xp but thats not asus fault.
however the hotkeys are a mess! asus didnt release some atk drivers.
I am trying to sort things out with it, but if anyone needs any help or would like me to make a short "how to" for vista or xp 64-bit let me know
if anyone can help with drivers specialy atk it would be great. -
"theZoid" sorry i forgot to comment, yes you are abaslutely right, some atk drivers and others are absolutely undiscriminatory as for os. but you have to navigate to tehm directly cause cd autroun gives os error for windows xp.
