I bought my Asus in January and have never ever performed any driver update on it at all. What I've always wondered is, what is that CD that comes with the laptop? It's called "Asus Driver&Utility Ver 3.0".
The only reason I don't update drivers is because It's too time consuming (I am lazy) and the programs I have installed require you to pay, which is a rip off.
If anyone can recommend me a free software which downloads and installs drivers for you on Asus? Is that what the CD is?
I tried using the live update program but it doesn't want to open...
Thanks guys![]()

Live update is pretty much a waste of time from what I have read.
Never pay for drivers, the CD has the drivers that came from the factory, which can sometimes work better than the updated ones.
If you are happy they way your system is running and are not obsessed with setting benchmark records there is no reason to update. I only update to fix issues, but be careful (especially BIOS and HDD firmware updates that can brick your computer)
If you have a model with a dedicated VIDEO card (ATI or Nvidia) you have to go the manu. site for updates, otherwise just go here ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download
and grab updates if you need them.
What model do you have? -
Asus Driver&Utility Ver 3.0
