I noticed a few differences between the 1000HD line and the others HA/HE ect...
So far here's where I've found they cut
1: 4 cell vs 6 cell battery
2: No wireless n
3: Packaging not as nice (no black cloth bag)
I'm wondering if they cheaped out anywhere else. Does it use the same LED screen or not?

Mike

Isnt this one the budget version anyway?
Check at trustedreviews.com they have quite a bit of reviews on the eee models. -
Didn't find anything there, surprised not to see much info. about this unit.

why are you considering it over the regular HE?

#1 I already purchased it.
#2 It was $250.00
I figure, if all variables line up, it's not a bad deal. OK, I don't get:
1: Wireless n, but that's not really a big deal since wireless g is just fine, I don't plan on high bandwidth streaming requirements. Wireless g is more ubiquitous. By the time n become "required" I'll just buy another machine.
2: The 6 cell battery. I figure I can buy an aftermarket high capacity one on ebay. Wondering how people have liked those since this is probably key to my decision.
3: Celeron M provides similar performance to the Atom. At least this is what I've learned by reading various posts. the Celery runs a bit hotter and eats up 2x the battery, but as I understand it, the CPU isn't the main power culprit anyways. 5V vs. 2.5V I'm thinking that's not a big deal. It would be interesting to see how much power it draws vs. other components such as the LCD and HD.
Is there anything else I might be missing? Thing is, I could always return it if it turns out there a big reason to spend the extra $150 or so...

Not sure if it was this model, but certain Eee variants also lacked bluetooth. 250 is still a good deal for a 10inch netbook.
