Well, I current have the Elantech driver on my 1000HE and I don't really like how it works with the touchpad. Is there anyway I can get the synaptics driver on here? If so, how would I go about doing that?

What exactly is it that you don't like on the Elantech driver? If it's the multi-touch features that you don't like, you can disable them in your mouse properties.

I'll admit that I may be a little too used to the synaptics drivers since they've been in EVERY laptop I've owned lol. Maybe it's just me :p

The HE's touch pad was totally glitchy to me. I updated to the new beta driver and it seemed mostly the same. I then disabled the un-needed extra gestures and now it seems fine. I now use click, scroll, and browser-back/browser-fwd.

What all did you happen to disable? I agree the touchpad is pretty glitchy and I'm definitely gonna have to get a mouse.

Wouldn't it be the same? Or no?

Thats my question, the 1000H is the first time in my whole life that I deemed a mouse not needed. I have a nice logitech nano for my EEE and I never used it even once except when I bought it to try it out.

Its big, its easy to move your finger, all the multi gesters work perfectly, it makes a mouse obsolete for anything other than heavy drag & drop.

I did turn off one function and that was the magnifying glass I think.

Oh but I do not use the stock drivers, though they seemed to work fine, I got a new driver directly from elucom or who ever it was.

Vicious, is your 1000H touchpad an Elantech?

My touchpad seems much more responsive today after disabling drag and drop, zooming, and fast keys. I restarted and it's must better. Keep in mind that I do have the latest drivers provided on the Asus EEE PC site.

Yeah I think so, but I have this "ealcom" stuck in my head from somewhere also.

I will tell you an important thing that the 1000H users had to do, they had to turn off the palm detection to get smooth scrolling after updating to the new drivers. Firefox really had a problem with it on.

To get that functionality back without the issues, we used a free program called touch freeze.

So I would find the touch freeze program, and probably give these drivers a go: 7043 is the version im finding the link right now.

7043 is actually even newer than what I use since it was not out when I setup my 1000H

    Lower the sensitivity lol,

You can reduce that in the touchpad properties, also you can reduce scroll speed if thats what you mean in your general windows control panel area under the mouse section
