Asus have this rumored to be in the works. With the 1201PN already out now in Europe, with the N450 atom and non optimus 16 core Ion2 chipest. Asus are working on a new 1215n model, which is just as well since the N450 atom paired with the Ion2 doesn't let the Ion2 really better the current Ion.

This is one perfect netbook! Faster than your standard Atom with all the extras such as the video grunt.
Won't this model include 2xUSB 3.0 ports as per Engadget's post?

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
This version has the D510. Wonder if Asus will make an N550 powered model?
-
Dang, this thing sound like a pretty powerful netbook. Depending on hardware and the release date on the 1218 I might actually settle for this one instead. Through I'm not a big fan of the plastic shell Eee pc's.
-
What's the the difference between this model and the 1218?
-
-
Won awards before it's released!
Yeah right!
I think same specs just a different case. -
Netbooknews have benchmarked this little 12.1" and it gets 5806 3dmark03 points. Be interesting to see what 3dmark 06 points it could get.
I've updated the specs above to include the USB 3.0 ports and the Atom D510, it might even release with a new Atom dual core. The reviewed model is a prototype with the D510 but its not confirmed it will ship with this dual core atom. It might get that new rumored 1.87GHz dual core atom... -

I can't wait until tech progesses to the point where we can play Crysis maxed on out a 12-incher.
-
Yea, it'd be funny to watch. Even if crysis is a plain boring and stale game to me.
-
This machine was annonced back in March. I wonder how much longer we have to wait.
It's hard to go with an alternative netbook since nothing else comes close. -
man i want a 12in netbook but with this coming out I do not want to get the 1201n now
-
Its gona be the 1215 or the 1218 for me, thats for sure. I wonder if I could play cod4 with these ion graphics during the boring art history classes...
-
-
well I could not wait so I picked up a UL30VT for 650. Just to good of a price for what I was needed.
-
-
This is up for pre-order on ExcaliberPC.
ASUS Eee PC 1215N 250GB Premium 12.1" Netbook - Black. ASUS 1215N-PU17-BK
And it is going to be $499! This is probably the MSRP price so it may be even cheaper when it comes out. The ETA of this thing is on August 31st. -
Didn't engadget say it was coming out on August 23? I thought that was the set release date
-
I have preordered this netbook
Can't wait! I hope it can run some basic games like League of Legends and maybe CoD Modern Warfare 2 on low/medium
-
-
Just from a website in Denmark called Komplett.dk
-
Man, I wished the web cam was 1.3m like all the other eee pc 1000x
-
you can pre-order on amazon.co.uk as well. £430 is expensive for a netbook. But what a netbook!
-
And I thought the price I bought it for was expensive! I bought it for £336, and in Denmark we got 25% tax
But I'm sure it's even worth £500
Anyways, I just got an email today that said my order was sent today! That means I will get it tomorrow or the day after the tomorrow! Wooohooo -
The pre-order info shows this with only 2 GB of RAM and a 250HD running Windows 7 32bit.
Anyone have any info on if a 4GB 320HD Win 7 64Bit version will also be available, or if it could be customized with those specs?
I was torn between this model and a Toshiba T235 13" ultra-portable when I saw the original specs with 4GB of RAM and the larger hard drive (as per the original poster of this thread, and other place's I've seen this Notebook on the web), but if it's only going to come with 2GB of RAM and a 250HD then perhaps the Toshiba really is/was the way to go, as they both price out the same at $500 US -
Well, I have also ordered it with 2 GB of ram, since I think its enough! My current system also got 2 gb ram and its running smooth!
-
Will this be able to play HD videos smoothly or blu rays ?
Im looking for a small laptop/netbook to also server as a htpc for my 73" tv. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
With the right drivers and programs (GPU hardware acceleration) it should run 1080p just fine.
-
-
Well, I got it now. I think you should press a little hard on the power switch to boot it up but I guess it's normal (If you guys got it, do you experience the same). But the annoying thing is, is that proper NVIDIA ION 2 drivers are not released. That means I can't get maximum amount of power out of this machine yet.
But I'm quiet satisfied with the keyboard, speed and batterylife.
Cheers.
Kind Regards Peter -

Hi Oogamar.
It comes with a really old version of a NVIDIA driver. Unfortunately I deleted it because I thought I could just update it from Nvidia's website - but no
I wrote to Asus about my problem, and they said they would release a driver on their website within a week (They haven't released ANY drivers on their website yet ).
So in the meanwhile, I've just installed Intels GMA 3100 driver and it works o.k.
What about you Oogamar, are you going to buy this machine?
Cheers,
Peter -
I dunno about you powerfull499 but the driver version I got with my 1215N is BEYOND newer then the official released Optimus driver.
I have ver 257.34
Proof: http://www.mugimugi.org/drivarver.png
Latest Optimus driver from nvidia: ( To old for 1215N )
NVIDIA DRIVERS 189.79
But anyhow yes there is no download or install file for any video driver yet who works with This netbook sadly, I know many who run into the problem that they reinstalled removed the recovery partition without creating an recovery disc and so on and ending up unable to use the ION gcard.
----
So far overall happy with my 1215N, it works really well, fast enough for the simple daily tasks of web browsingfaster then I expected even, granted I use Google chrome who is one of the most optimized browsers thought.
Battery life is 7 hours if you keep display at 50% and let the PC just stand there. I get about 5-6h hours of battery life not using WLAN, and around 4,5-5h using WLAN. More then enough for me
---
PS Title of this topic is wrong, it's not 1215PN it's 1215N -
How about a short review regarding build, keyboard, sound, and most important of all...a 3dmark06 score or 2.
-
I got my dear Asus 1215 today!!! OMGOMGOMG
Is it possible to remove all the preinstalled junk without doing a clean isntall? DOnt wanna end up with the driversproblem some of the others have experienced.
-
They have just released drivers on the Asus website: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?product=20&model=Eee PC 1215N&SLanguage=en-us&os=29
Do you guys noticed that the power switch is not sensitive? I mean I have to press a little hard to boot it up. If I just press on it with not a lot of power it will not boot up. -
-
-
Ninja, run 3dmark06 first chance you get. And give us a short review on build quality, keyboard etc...
-
http://www.mugimugi.org/netbook3dmark.png <- My score on 3dmark03 pretty much exactly as the numbers who came out 4 months to... So it's not like it's a secret. -
Nice. Yes, the main reason they put it in there is to handle shortcomings of the CPU, that doesn't mean it can't be used to play games. The GPU is there for whatever purpose you put it to.
-
Well, I have tried Modern Warfare 2 on the lowest graphic setting and -sorry to say- It doesen't run smooth at all. Maybe we'll just have to wait for new drivers.
-
any way to get this in the states yet?
-
Can anyone who's got this confirm whether they have USB 3.0? I've heard from retailers (in the UK) that the initial launch model ONLY has USB 2.0 with the USB 3.0 model only becoming available in October (the release date here for the USB 2.0 model is 7 Sep)
-
I will check it, but how to do it? Is it written in the device manager?
-
So... I was looking into ordering it soon and noticed that excaliberpc is now charging $550. Price increase, or just excaliberpc taking advantage of being the only US place retailer currently selling it?
Also, are there any other places I should look other than Newegg and Amazon? -

The easiest way to identify USB 3 on ASUS laptop is look for blue colored USB.
-
No blue colored USB on this one
-
So what's the release date in the USA?
