I'm a bit worried about the touchpad closing windows when you tap on the upper right corner of the touchpad (I think it has to be a double two-finger tap). Is this setting changeable in Mouse Settings? I heard about this in eeeuser.com forums, and was considering the 1000H.

It should be changable, if not you could always swap drivers or run driverless and only have touchpad with no scroll etc. (do not quote me on this)

You could just go to bestbuy or another retailer and just try it out and see if you can change the settings.

This is called tap zones, and is almost certainly possible to turn off from the touchpad driver settings.

I just discovered Tap Zones. This is cool! Now I don't need to use the right button on the touchpad! :D
