    Asus Eee PC 1005PE dark screen (Not Black nor blank Screen)

    I have been trying to update my bios on my new used asus eee PC 1005PE notebook.
    I have downloaded the newest bios update:

    ASUS Service | North America

    Description BIOS 1202
    Update EC firmware
    File Size
    418,78 (KBytes) 2010.08.04 update

    Extracted it renamed it to 1005P.ROM
    Turned it on holding down ALT/F2 and it saying:
    USB Device found
    Reading file "1005P.ROM
    File "1005P" not found on USB Device.

    What am I doing wrong. I have linux fresh installed on it. Don't like windows.

    At this time it is at Asus 1005PE ACPI BIOS Revision 0401 core version 0401.
    built date 11/10/09
    EC firmware version EPCD-030

    With windows on it it is a little brighter but still dark.

    Again not black or blank.
