I have been waiting for these to come out for some time now, who else is with me on hyping the release of these netbooks? I want to know if there is more info about these netbooks and what people think about them, and possible release date.

Hmm. How powerful would this be in comparison to, say, the 1215n, in standard and gaming usages?
I'm not all that familiar with the new AMD APU tech. Any place for a quick crashcourse? -
Based on a few numbers, the Zacate is better than Intel's current generation mobile graphics solution, and perhaps at least as good as Nvidia's Ion solution (maybe better, some of the benchmarks on the forums here give a better indication of where 3dmark numbers should be for the 9400).
AMD Radeon HD 6310 - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Benchmarks from Anandtech put the 6310 ahead of Intel HD.
That's as far as I can make out the numbers. Seems decent enough. -

if you want something to read, there you go.
I almost got the 1215N, I loved the idea of the thing, but the power plug issues, and bad atom performance and the intentionally gimped pci-express bus killed it for me. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
I had a 1215n for a while before I sold it to my brother to replace his crap HP, but while I had it (at stock) it was pretty nice.
But I'm intrigued by these new Zacates. If they offer comparable performance to the 1215n across all usage--games, normal tasks, battery--for a similar price, I'm sold.
I did like the fact that ION2 had dedicated memory, but as it's been mentioned many, many times, teaming it up with an Atom choked it. -
-
I wonder if this new AMD platform is gonna be overclock-friendly. Overclocking 1215n gives me stable 2.2 GHz with minor issues having 1.8 GHz stock processor, thus increasing gaming FPS and overall perfomance dramatically. If Zacate reaches 2 GHz and has no stupid architecture limitations and buggy drivers (all hail mighty Atom!), then my 1215n is going to leave my loving hands.
-
Just saying. -
I am dying to hear more about these things, I really want the 1215B.

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Couple days past CES, and still nothing new. Sigh. If this thing performs as well as I'm thinking it should, I'm very excited indeed.
-
Wait... a 1015 with... *gulp* 4GB of RAM!? I hunger for this. I hunger for it NAOW!!!
As the proud owner of a 1015PE, this is a massive power increase from the 1015PN, completely across the board. I am totally junking my PE for the B, once it hits the streets.
My only complaint: I wish it had a backlighting option. The little chicklet keyboard is already a bit bothersome for me, but in the dark it becomes utter havoc. I know backlighting would sap the battery power... but I think it would offset the negative. Maybe the next gen Lamborghini will have it... -
yep but im opting for the thinkpad x120e its smaller chassis but same size screen so its the sweet spot for a netbook. about the same size as the as1551, however the 1215b is my 2nd choice. and possibly looking to the dm1z as 3rd choice...for now. but it x120e is 1st choice over everything. the next is the most silent, low temps, durable and quality which has to tempt me over the thinkpad (fan of trackpad plus 3g option) Also sony and toshiba are on the way in this 11.6 cateogary.
-
***EDIT***
Nevermind... found out the answer for myself.
The x120e is indeed sexy, but it's not a true 10 incher... it's an 11 incher, which IMHO puts it in the M11x kingdom. Now if there was a 10 inch model... -
Which one is better, the 1215b or lenovo x120e?
Does it come with a matte screen option like the x120e?
Thanks -
same parts. the 1215n should be cheaper as the x120e with your option should be more plus wwan optional, slightly stronger build i assume. as ive said before the x120 is my 1st choice because i like the trackpad more that touchpad and has a middle click button so thats very significant if you had to go to touchpad. plus im for the wwan if i have to take this thing out on my travels.
no brainer for me.
Also its smaller by around an inch across and abit narrower than the as1551 which i liked cos it made it feel more like a netbook thant ultra portable. -

ASCII.jp has more detailed info on the 1015B - turns out to be a lot weaker than originally thought:
Lookie Here
It's an AMD C-50 for the brain and graphics.
The Windows 7 Experience score for the CPU is lower than what you get for the 1015PN... although higher in others. Still no word if it can go 4GB... I'm thinking it only goes 2GB max'ed. -
Like the other intelligent peeps, I'll be getting the Lenovo version. Build quality, track-point, 3rd button, matt screen, smaller, no possible Asus' horrible tech support etc. There's no question which to get. Also, about the heat & battery life, I don't have time to dig up links have been researching this combo hardcore & both points seem to be about spot-on. The only thing I'm upset about is why we (the US) aren't getting the IdeaPad S205... same goodies, a bit smaller frame still, looks even better IMO & will have some case color/graphic options. (tho does look to be shiny screened)

Here is a positive review on the X120e ...
Lenovo ThinkPad X120e review -- Engadget
I am thinking this is a fine choice - but I was really hoping for more battery life than this. I am holding out hope that the 1215B will perhaps have a bigger battery and be ergonomic to the case. I was surprised to see the X120E did not have a USB 3.0 port either...
It appears as thought the 120e will be available on the 15th of February - where is the 1215B! -
No info at all on this thing, what is going on with Asus?
-
Agreed. I'm very much looking forward to this, especially because it has a USB 3.0 port, but no info!
-
so mostly i will getting 1215B. -
YES!! I Want!
-
Any word on a release date?
-
-
There is currently no date or price set in stone, though there is speculation that it will be out in March. Strange, considering they're aren't developing anything new for the shell. Makes me wonder what's taking them so long.
-
probably waiting for the next atom chip around 2012
-
so that beats dm1z and 522

Well, I found this on my hunt: List of AMD Fusion Brazos: Zacate/Ontario Notebooks and Motherboards jdhodges.com
Just a list of different computers and motherboards with AMD Fusion inside of them. It doesn't include ASUS or the MSI models (of which I'm looking forward to the U270 if nothing is announced by ASUS soon). -
U270? I don't see it
-
I said it DOESN'T include the ASUS or MSI models. The U270 is the new MSI Wind model coming soon.
-
BTW, I own dell, hp, apple, msi, gateway, emachine, acer and for some ASUS doesn't break that easily
PS too much glossy on that msi but I like the HD webcam -
Yeah, the MSI looks too ugly for me to even consider it.
-
-
backlit keyboard?
usb 3.0? -
No backlit, 3.0USB yes
-
The 1015B and 1215B showed up in CeBIT. Asus is STILL only showing it at tradeshows. I'm guessing we're looking at a summer release:
Source
Anyways... the 1015B evidently will be in two CPU versions: single core C-30 and dual core C-50. -
wow im glad I found this thread. I have a 12in asus but was looking to get something smaller after I sold the ul30vt. I was looking at the hp but being an asus guy I wanted and asus. The 1215b is just what I want as I was about to order the hp version. I guess im going to have to wait on selling my ul30vt until i know when then will be out.
-
I know it's either this i fork a little more for a 12" intel iCore 3 with HD 2000
, wait for that too. It'll be like macbook small or smaller

some photos from engadget of white versions
ASUS Eee PC 1015B and 1215B hands-on -- Engadget
i hate how Asus keeps putting these big glossy bezels on most of their models. they used to have such nicer designs just a few years ago. -
RED!! Version!
-
The Msi MSI Global ? Notebook - U270 u270, with similar spec is out. Just without the color, hopefully Asus comes with better OC'ing software than MSI.
ASUS Eee PC 1215B 250GB Premium 12.1" Netbook - Red. ASUS 1215B-MU17-RD
It's out both 1015 and 1215, both red, black, white
No USB 3.0 -
I found this new video at CeBit YouTube - Asus 1215B with AMD E-350 Fusion and there are others similar which also refer that the 1215B will come out with 3.0. Otherwise it would not make any sense as the 1215N has 3.0!
By the way both of the two laptops (1015 and 1215) will be shipping in april and the price ranges from 290$ to 450$ depending on the model and in the cpu on board. ASUS: Eee PC 1215B and 1015B ship in April, pricing confirmed | Netbooknews - Netbooks, Netbook Reviews, Smartbooks and more -
just get 1215B price from malaysia PC Expo, MR1399, just about USD430, but without OS. -
Wondering if there is any difference in finish materials between colors for the 1215B's? When looking on Excaliberpc website the Red looks like it has texture to it even on the touch pad, and on the post above the marketing card says (Matte) beside the silver model, is that screen or just the paint finish??? I have seen a video with a 1215N in red that has a matte screen so I think they are maybe coming. Looking at the 1215B's, the MSI U270's, and the Lenovo X120e. Looking forward to some reviews getting out there. Oh and I thought I could check the finish on the 1215N reviews to compare but the red is just matte on the 1215N not like the 1215B textured. Thanks for the help >
-
Aww shucks... only white is with matte? =/ Still, I'm liking the red ;D
