So i just got this new present from some relative i have never met, for christmas, the ASUS Eee PC (4G, i believe??) white
so the specs are
intel celeron processor 900mhz (i know its old)
512mb ram
4GB SSD
so my question is can i upgrade the 4GB SSD into maybe a 16GB SSD or can i upgrade it into a normal HDD and get a 80/100GB 5400RPM HDD?
im just wondering cuz i installed xp sp3 and it takes up 2.68GB, and out of the 4GB i can only use about 3.54, so that leaves me with 0.86GB. out of that, 0.36 is taken up by the programs file and i only have firefox, avast a/v and windows media player (all these didnt come with the comp). so in reality i have 1/2GB for music/videos/other programs (word, msn messenger etc)
i seriously want more space and dont suggest a SD card cuz i have a 8GB SD card but i want a bigger hdd if i can?
p.s. if anyone has the the eee pc (im assuming the chassis is the same?), can anyone tell me what the space above the ram slot is for?
i was guessing it is for a new hdd/ssd?

the space above the RAM slot has 2 USB ports which aren't wired up in it *picture* that or a pcie slot for another HDD
see here : http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=3982 -
so i looked at mine and it had no two usb ports???
but when u look at my pic it has some metal conductors on the right side?
and i dont want to think about getting the usb ports and wiring it onto the motherboard
-
lol, the 2 USB ports are a mod but i meant it as an example
if you look at it from the right side with the RAM at the bottom, you should see an extension slot
or not hmph.... mine hasnt but this has

Man, I wish people I didn't know would send me computers =P

k im not going to mod it that far as to taking out the whole mb and wiring freakin usb ports!
but i looked at his and his looks the same except for the connectors on the left side??? i dont think i have this..
but im wondering, is this the only option, just getting a big sd card and shoving everything onto that??
@CA36GTP
yea i know im so lucky, i went there to stay at his house for a day (cuz hes my dad's old old friend from like 10 yrs ago, never met him...) while on a trip to new zealand and i walk in and he hands me a comp
