Hey, I thinking about getting a small tablet PC to take to class with me so I don't have to lug around my M17x. I was thinking about the Asus T91 since it is small and relatively cheap but I wanted to get some input from you guys on it first.

Has anyone done something like this (have a laptop + netbook/tablet at school with them)? Did you end up only using one computer and the other one just sat there? I will only be taking notes in class with the T91, gaming and everything else will be done on my M17x obviously.

Also, has anyone used this tablet before? I have read reviews on it but I wanted to get your guys' opinion. I will be getting it for $600 CAN if I decide to pull the trigger.

    Thanks.

personally i have non-tablet netbook (1000HE) and a laptop (aspire 5585, to be replaced in a few days by asus n81vp-d1)...

i've found that while i carry the HE around, I almost never use it when the full-sized notebook is around. i've also found that i carry/need the netbook a lot less than i thought i did, but it does come in *very* handy on plane rides.

your situation might be different since its a tablet (you'll actually use it for taking notes - i don't use the HE for taking notes, since half the time you need to draw diagrams), but bottom line is that you should evaluate if you really need a tablet for notes (paper and pen/pencil works best sometimes).

otherwise, u'll find that the netbook just sits in a corner the whole time ;)
also note that while a netbook is light, carrying it over the course of a whole day, with books and folders is gona add up

    Thanks for the reply.

That is what I was afraid of though, I don't want to fork out $600 for a tablet then to have it just sit there.. I don't think I would ever really want to take my M17x to class though; it is just too big and attracts way too much attention.

Maybe I'll buy it, use it for a bit and if I decide I don't like it I can give it to my father or just sell it.

You really need to ask yourself if you will actually use it for what you seem to think you will use it for. I know thats hard, but you really need to think about it. Go through the course of what your day will be like, and picture in your head where you think using a netbook will be plausible. Then decide from there.

For example. I plan on getting a pineview based tablet netbook ( or possibly a CULV based notebook ) in 2010, mainly for school. With high battery life and portability, I figure taking it class to class and taking notes with it wont be too hard, plus I will have a tablet portion which will make things interesting.

Especially hard since I'm entering first year, so I've got no idea what it will be like :p. Thank you for the advice though.
