I have an Asus EeePC 1005HA. Its my wife's notebook. Super handy little thing. 10" screen etc.

    We also have a 2 year old... : \

She did this to it the other night, not sure how, and not sure what caused it... I'm pretty sure it doesn't have a warranty, and if it does, I don't think it would cover this.

I feel like I can fix this, as I've taken apart laptops before... It seems like the LCD is fine, and perhaps only came unplugged or something might be wrong with the graphics card?

Generally, when you see something like that it is an issue with the GPU itself. A loose or bad cable wouldn't generally manifest itself that way since it would likely cause the screen not to work.

Can you doublecheck it's the GPU and not the screen by plugging it in to any external monitor?

Sure, I'm at work at the moment, but as soon as I get home, I'll test this.

And regrettably, if it is the GPU then the only solution is a motherboard replacement ... which usually run $150-200.
