i just got it in a big computer convention in taiwan. retailers were cutting the price like crazy. at the end, i chose the Asus F3 simply because of the sweet Ati X1600 256mb gpu. i was told that this is the upgrade of A6 series. i will get it a few days later or next week. here are the specs:

    # ASUS F3APT24DD-FAQXAA
    Intel Core Duo T2400 (1.83GHz,533MHz FSB ,2MB L2 Cache)
    2GB DDRII 667MHz (upgraded from 1GB)
    15.4" WXGA
    SATA 100GB 5400rpm
    DVD Super Multi
    ATI X1600 256MB (dedicated) /with 512MB Hypermemory
    AC97 5.1 CH
    802.11a+b+g、Bluetooth V2.0 EDR
4 USB2.0, Bluetooth, DVI, VGA out, IEEE 1394, SPDIF, Audio in, 7 in 1 memory card slot
    1.3 megapixel camera
    2.9kg

i got it at 48800NT which is 1,486.20 USD as of today 2006/8/8. plus free wirelses tv tuner and mouse and notebook carrying case. maybe its a little bit expensive or so. i have no idea the notebook price for this kind of spec in the us. but i think its a good deal for me anyway. i'm interested in writing a review for this.

I'm going to assume you meant a computer convention rather than a computer intervention or else you wouldn't be coming away with a notebook. ;)

I'm looking forward to your review. Do you mind also running CPU-Z and seeing what your Core Duo stepping is? The common one is C0, but there's supposed to be a new D0 stepping that was released along with the T2700. I'm not sure if the new stepping has trickled down yet though.

I'm confused how this is an upgraded version of the A8?? First of all, the x1600 256 isn't an upgrade on the 7600... If anything it would be a step sideways or more likely down. Besides that, the two computers don't even have the same screen size.

i was told by mastha that it is a upgrade of A6 not A8. sorry for the mix up. no way, i seriously think x1600 is a much better card than 7600. i've heard alot of stories about 7600 and its messed up driver.

See the graphics card chart. The diff between the X1600 and 7600 is minimal

Also problems you've heard about the 7600 are probably the Zepto ones - see the review, which relate to the Zepto VGA board or something, as Zepto clock their components higher than standard...or something like that

Now I want pics! :p Pretty please with a cherry on top :D Edit: Just seen you're still waiting for it. Ahh yes...sorry....the cherry is now withdrawn

Although if I read the specs right it's actually bigger than the A6JA, and heavier by a couple hundred grams too?
