I recently got an F3F and noticed a problem with the left mouse button. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It seems to be hardware related and appears really random. Sometimes if I press really hard it will start working again, but a minute later totally stop. The right mouse button is fine.
Thinking it was that particular machine I exchanged it for another F3F. This mouse button is showing the same type of problem. It's not as bad, but there is definately something wrong.
I've worked with hundreds of Asus notebooks and never had this problem before.
Has anyone else experience this before? Since the F3F is a brand new model I'm not sure if I just got a couple of lemons or if the machine itself is flawed. It's the first Asus machine I've used with a single physical mouse button - nothing visible seperating the left and right sides. Maybe they got the implementation of this design feature wrong?

I'm waiting for a 3rd unit to see if I've been unlucky, or if it's a problem across the line. Will let you know what this one is like.
If anyone's interested, a few impressions...
So far, other then the mouse issue, the notebook is quite nice. Everything is typical asus. Great build quality, great screen (seems the same as the A6Vc), keys are responsive. Both models I got did not include a DVI port. There is an empty space beside the VGA port, where DVI would have been. Using Office applications and general web surfing, the unit is very fast. No plans to test anything else on it (it's a machine for a business client).
They DID actually include media hot keys on this unit - they are now activated by the Fn key, and placed on the arrow buttons.
There's also a button I haven't used before beside the Power4Gear button, called "Splendid". It basically changes how vivid the colours are, adjusts gama, etc. There are profiles like "Movie, Vivid, Normal" (can't remember the others). I haven't played with it to see if there's any real use for this yet. For now, I only see it as a hassle for when end users hit it and "screw up the colours on the screen", resulting support requests. -
Interesting the F3F doesn't come with the DVI port. I just ordered an F3Jm and was hoping the F3Jc would be available in the US for the same reason as you; I am not a gamer. However I do need the DVI port and would like to have the option of a dedicated graphics card. I am just not interested in one that restricts the battery life to two hours.

are you still around? did you have the problem with the 3rd laptop?

Just got a F3F today...exact same left mouse pad button problem! REALLY annoying. The only other thing I can say that bothers me is I keep accidentally hitting the button on the optical drive thereby ejecting it because the button is on the side closest to the front where I always pick the computer up.
Everything else is awesome...keyboard and screen are awesome...there is light leakage on a black screen big time but the trade off is a nice bright screen (AUO). Build quality is great.
The mouse pad bothers me so much that i'll be returning it and trying out the Lenovo n100 (better specs too). -

There are little buttons on a pad that are under the top case of the system.... what the buttons actually push to make the connection. I've only seen this one time before on the W1n a couple years back.. We took the system apart (don't expect you to do that), but basically the pad cocked and you weren't pushing anything... I'd assume it could be the same sort of situation. The pads are glued to the underside of the top case... that's usually more than enough.

Have a F3Jc and not a single problem with the touchpad and its buttons. Although I've finally handed my laptop in for repairs/replacement because of the faulty AudioDJ issue (speakers working when plugging headphones in), just because of my geographic location and problable red tape, it could take up to 1-3 weeks
-
I have also heard of the audio problems with headphones from more than one. The mouse pad button is getting to be really tiresome....sigh. I wish they would have just used regular mouse buttons like my old Acer...it clicked like crazy but at least they worked when pressed anywhere on the button. Really bad design of the mousepad on the ASUS.

decided to hold on to the ASUS despite the mouse buttons....it's a really solid machine...best i've ever used. i'm used to pressing the buttons harder already so doesn't bother me as much.
had a weird glitch with crackling in the speakers though, but solved after reboot. no headphone/speaker issue though (so far)
