I'd intended on buying one of the higher models in the F3J series, but here in India, only a pre configured F3Jc, with the following specs is availble:
    Core 2 Duo T5600
    Geforce Go 7300
    1 GB RAM(2*512, 667 MHz)
    160 GB SATA,5400 RPM
    Internal Bluetooth, Integrated Webcam
    9 Cell Battery
    Carry Bag, Optical USB mouse
This, I am getting for the equivalent of USD 1720,(I am not being ripped off.. The taxes ensure I can't get it for less :( )

My original choice would have been a F3jP/M/V, with a T7200 proc.

Now, I can either go forward with this config, or get a better F3J from outside this country. However, I am worried, as to what would happen to my warranty, if I do get it outside India, the 2 year Global notwithstanding.
Second, what if the model I buy never gets released in India? How would I get it serviced, if some problem were to develop?

I request advice/opinions, regarding what to do? Do I buy what I am getting here, or do I get one from elsewhere?
I need what I buy now to last me at least two years....

Hmm thats a tough call, what do you plan on doing with the notebook? If you need a more powerful notebook the F3JP might be a better option. But if you do not plan on gaming or intense CPU apps than the F3Jc should be fine.

If you do decide to go international I think these people will get it to you(I am not sure but I have heard they ship to Europe)

A little gaming(NFS, UT, FEAR), but not much. Otherwise, college stuff, like MATLAB, AutoCAD etc....

Thanks for the link.. They have an option for selecting India, so I guess they should be shipping here.. Even with a 12% customs suty, I am getting the F3JP for lesser than the F3JC that's being forced down my throat here... Guess I'll risk somewhat on the warranties, and go with the international option. I'll be banking on the great build quality of Asus.. Hopefully it won't let me down, and won't develop any problems.... The 9 cell battery's what's tempting me, though....
Man, am I tired of waiting.........
