    Hi all,

After 10 month of use of this laptop pre-installed with Vista, I began to have freeze at random time (sometimes 1 sec after start-up, sometimes 1 hour after).

Recently I decided to reinstall the OS, but this time using XP because I found Vista unstable and heavy.

I was surprise to discover the freezes were still there after the reinstall.

    I've checked:

    1. The RAM with MEMTEST
    2. The CPU with CPU burn
    3. The hard drive with SeaTools (the HDD is a Seagate)

I don't know anymore what I should do. Where the problem could come from?

    Thanks for your help.

Is it like a 1-3 second freeze? or a restart freeze? Cause I am getting 1-3 second freezes with my G1S. Just curious to know if I should monitor this thread too.

No it's an endless freeze. Like a crash, but worse because I can't diagnose the problem. The OS just stops, nothing respond, but the content of the screens is freezed...

I had a similar problem which eventually resolved itself after adjusting the page file size, reinstalling some of the apps which run in the background, reinstalling the important drivers and... most importantly, uninstalling the virus scanner which I'm pretty sure was the culprit. The fact that is still occurs despite an OS change is bizarre though... give some of those suggestions a try and see what happens...

    Thanks Nrbelex for your help.

Actually no software is installed at all, no antivirus, nothing, and the problem stills happen!

I've just tested the HDD on another computer, it is all fine.

I can't understand what the problem is.

Did you try adjusting the drivers or page file?
