    Here's the deal..

    Asus F3Jm
Optical digital output works great w/ my Edifier 2.1 system.
When I unplug the optical cable, I get no sound.
[Fn] volume keys do nothing, and Device Manager shows no speakers installed, and I'm pretty sure it used to.
    Windows Vista Business 64bit installed.
Speakers used to work, this problem was pretty spontaneous.

    Any ideas?

yeah most likely need service. This also happened on mine as well as an F3F. It's a known problem.
