    Hi all,

I just bought the above notebook yesterday. Downgraded to WinXP SP3 yesterday. I downloaded all the winxp drivers from Asus.

However, I did not install the fingerprint driver from Asus. I got it from Windows Update.

I'm having trouble with the Fingerprint. At first it was able to be detected and installed with no problem. However, it is not in the Biometric section in device manager, but in USB devices.

After a while, suddenly a USB device not recognized popped up. My fingerprint sensor became unknown device with no exclamation marks.

Anyone know what's wrong? Is the sensor faulty? I'm able to detect other usb devices with no problem.

How about trying the ASUS driver (I'm assuming from the way you say things, that it's available)?

Yea. Install the ASUS driver and see how it goes.

As a rule of thumb, Windows update for your software/hardware drivers.. not a good idea. Always get it directly from the manufacturer.
