Noticed this laptop on Newegg.com and it looks pretty good to me. I just wanted to know what I should expect with the included 6 cell battery? I know Asus does not have good battery life in general, but I found a place to buy a 9 cell.

You can expect 2 to 3 hours out of the 6-cell, with reasonable confidence. The F6 is somewhat of a dark horse, it's a new model so we don't know how well it'll do with the battery life.

Thanks for the response. I think that I am going to order this tonight. I know it is the F series and not many people have it yet but it should still be a good portable notebook right? Basically I am looking for reassurance before I make this purchase. Thanks for the help.

Well, it's portable because it's 13.3. As to overall quality, as I said, it's new, so we don't know. In the F series there are success stories (F8) as well as notebooks with build problems (F3). So, we just don't know yet. :)

Eclipse - do you already have F6V-A1? If so, why also get X1?
    Thanks

    Eclipse,

I'm thinking about purchasing this laptop. How has it been for you for the past two months? Would you recommend it to me? Email me back at [email protected]

I'm also finding information on the F6A and F6V with the P8xxx series processors to be sparse.

If anybody would like to post a review, please do!

The F6 is one of Asus' models that wasn't launched with much hype, and hasn't been well adopted it appears - at least in terms of sales. Asus was already having problems moving the W7/U3 13" models over the past 18 months, which likely led to both being made EOL (in the case of the U3, less than 12 months after release). Whether that's because of the relative disinterest in the 13" line from Asus and the public, or because Asus has put more effort into the new N- and L- series launches, it's unclear.

So..... any reviews you might come across from late summer/early fall on the F6 (right after the model release) will remain valid and apply in nearly every respect, as there haven't been really any updates to the F6 line except for releasing the -v dedicated gpu version in September. If you read those you will get a good sense of the F6, and then just keep in mind the tiny differences that are in the new update. good luck all.
