There are two of these notebooks on sale at Newegg: the F6VE-X1 and F6VE-B1. They both have:

    13.3" 1280x800
    4GB DDR2-800
    ATI 4570
    320 GB @ 5400 RPM
    Weight: 4.3 lb

    The sole difference appears to be the processor -- the X1 has the P8600 (2.4GHz, 3MB, 25W) while the B1 has the T9550 (2.66GHz, 6MB, 35W).

Does anyone have any experiences with either of them? The specs seem awfully high for a 4.3 lb 13-incher so I'm afraid that they run hot and I can't find any reviews either on Newegg or here. Also, the prices are $1100 and $1400 respectively which is rather cheap for what you're getting. Basically, this sounds too good to be true.

P.S. This is not for gaming -- I know that video card is not that great, but it doesn't really matter.

i have it the Asus F6V and its great! Its basically the same thing... P9600 etc... It performs very good, the average temp for me is under 60C for everything... GPU, CPU HDD (this usualy under 50C) and this is without a notebook cooler..

Its also pretty rugid i guess.. Im traveling with this notebook right now... It is very reliable and pretty durable...

I think the GPU is pretty good. But if you're not going to game, the battery life you get out of this may not suit you as much, just so you know.

Thanks. When you get yours, perhaps you can post a brief review?

Where did you get one with a P9600? That would be ideal, but the only place I've seen it is at xoticpc and the upgrade from T9550 to P9600 costs $457 which is way, way more than I'm willing to pay for it given that it is the same exact thing with the only difference being 25W rather than 35W TDP.

It's nice to know that it runs cool, though you have a different GPU. I guess I should go to the gaming forum and ask how the 4570 compares to the 3470 in terms of heat and battery life.

Sorry for not replying, my wifi connection was not good lately (stupid hotel wifi lol..). I got the F6V from Hong Kong, but yeah i think Newegg has one with the P8600.

If your not a gamer i tihnk the 3470 will satisfy your needs, im running LOTR Battle for Middle Earth 2 high on everything and been playing for a few hours and it didn't get hot at all! It may had help that i had a cheappy Vantec Lapcool3 but i doubt it...

    Hey guys,

Sorry about bringing back a dead thread, but don't want to post another thread if I can help it.

Is there anyone here who has picked up the Asus F6Ve with the P8600 processor in it yet? Im very interested in knowing how the battery life compares to the T9550. Its the one thing putting me off getting this laptop, would kinda like a bit more battery life than the 2.5hours it has with the T9550.

Battery life btw processors won't be much since the power consumption isn't more than 1W difference at idle (unless you stress your CPU at 100% all the time on battery, then there will be a bigger difference).

True that. So we're still looking at around the 2.5 - 3 hours battery life then? Would love to see some more info about this laptop, unfortunately, doesn't appear to have been very popular judging by the lack of Youtube video's and reviews available.
