First, for the Asus U3, are they going to have 3 different models for the retail?
What they said in the Asus website "With the U3, users can enjoy one of the following three optional features: turbo memory, 3G connectivity and global positioning system (GPS). "

And the one in stock now is Asus U3 w/ GPS. The GPS function in the Notebook which I think is pretty useless compare to the Turbo Memory and 3G connectivity! When will they in stock?

What makes the Asus U3 not so perfect is, that latop doesn't have OD / DVD burner. And since it is without a OD, and the weight itself still makes 4.2 lbs!!!!! That doesn't make any sense for making this U3! Is so hard to see the selling point for it. Either for this U3 is less than 3.5lbs or is 4.2lbs BUT at least, it should including a Optical Driver! Maybe this is the marketting strategic for ASUS? If that so, I think Sony will be the winner!

Now, the Asus F8 14" inch and 5.7lbs is pretty heavy! But, is pretty high-end specs packed inside in this lappy! The keyboard makes this lappy looks ugly! Why they can't have nicely keyboard like the Sony's SZ? o_O

For the inlaid texture outside the surface is unique, but why still do that inside the surface, on the mouse panel? Why not put leather like the U3?

Asus F8, overall is a nice spec notebook, but its not good to carry around, is a lappy that makes to stay statics on the desk. And, the Asus U3 is just pointless comparing to the Asus U1

The Sony's SZ model, finished with the Carbon fiber is just so awesome!

My conclusion, if you need a notebook, Asus is the best choice for both specs and the price!!! If you're thinking to get either Macbook Pro or the Sony's, then Asus won't stand up much for these two competitors!

For graphic design, Asus F8 maybe can make the work done!
And it won't get disappointed on games!

Macbook Pro is just over the budget!

If the Asus F8 is $1549, it makes a good deal!

Asus makes notebook for people who knows and love Asus, Sony makes notebook for people who do not know anything but the brand

The SZ is $1800 and comes with a GMA 950...

I totally agree with you, Sony is only selling brands not the specs.

Either way, if you are looking for a sleek power-portable, the SZ is an amazing choice. To disagree is foolish. The battery life is excellent, screen is beautiful and it weighs nothing.

Sony makes 2 distinct types of laptops. Lower end consumer models which offer little in ways of a performance to price ratio (C and N series) and the high end models (SZ and TZ) which offer fairly exceptional performance (for their purpose) and a classy professional look for a premium price.

The SZ and TZ are expensive, but are very good at what they are intended for. It is difficult to find notebooks that fall under the same category, and for that Sony charges a premium (no doubt the branding also has a significant influence). The fact is, the SZ and TZ are performers, so its not like Sony is selling you a piece of junk.

there is no SZ with just a 950, all SZ's have the option to switch between video cards.
