Hey all, my trusty Asus f8sp-x1's adapter broke the other day. I stripped the wire and its beyond my repair, so I'm trying to find a new one online. All of the ones branded or sold as for the f8 are overpriced at 40+ so I'm trying to figure out what tip dimensions I need so I can get a generic 90w 4.74a 19vdc at a lower cost. Does anyone know what tip size my laptop needs?

    Cheers!

    You'll need to look for a pin size of 5.5mm X 2.5mm

And are there any other brands that commonly use that pin size, so I could just search - for example - toshiba adapter and make sure it matches the specs?

I'm not familiar with adapter brands, but I know Delta makes them as they are one of the suppliers for OEM Asus power adapters.

Okay. And in that diagram you posted it showed where the polarity was on the charger - does that vary from brand to brand or with that jack size is it a nonissue?

Edit: I found one that is .2mm longer on amazon, shortlink: amzn(dot)to(slash)cfWb8o (edited for forum restrictions). Is that a significant difference? Or can I buy with confidence?

I'm not sure I follow the shortlink you posted above.

You should be able to just copy and paste the full link on the forums but if not, you can also use tinyurl.com

The forum restricts you from posting URLs until a certain number of posts. I created a tinyurl for it: it is tinyurl(dot)com(slash)y3jfy44
